Domain Registration on Record Pace? Over 750K Added Yesterday Alone - Registrations of domain names seem to be going on at a record pace.
Yesterday saw the number of domain registrations across all Top Level Domain (TLD) names have a net add of over 750,000 domains according to registrarstats.com
“Net Add” mean its the amount of domains registered less the number of domain names deleted.
The gross numbers of domain names registered yesterday were close to 900,000.

New gTLD Add Over 1 Million Domain Registrations in Just Last 5 Days - According to ntldstats.com, the number of new gTLD’s domain registrations grew by 1.1 million domains, in just the last 5 days.
In terms of percentage of increase, the 1.1 million increase in new gTLD domain names, is close to a 9% increase in just 5 days.
On February 13th, there were a total of 12,675,000 new gTLD domain names registered.

Big companies recently purebred these domain names - Here are some interesting domain name registrations undertaken by large companies in recent days.
Companies made a bunch of hand registrations and domain acquisitions the past couple days. Although none of them rise to the level of writing a dedicated article about them, I think it’s worth combining them into a single article…

CENTR Reports There Are 311.5 Million Domains In The World -
According to a new report out today (PDF) by CENTR, which is the European country code TLD organisation, as of December 31, there are 311.5 million domain names in the world.
158.7 million domain names are Legacy TLD’s including .com, .net and .org; 140.1 million are ccTLD’s (country codes), 1.6 Million are IDN ccTLD’s, and 10.9 Million are New gTLD’s.

CSC's Nov New gTLD Report: New gTLD Sites in Alexa Top 1M Up 25% In a Month -
Brand protection and domain name registrar, CSC (Corporation Service Company) has issued its “New gTLD Utilization Report” for November.
According to CSC the number of active” .brands new gTLD’s (those with five or more registrations) increased from October when there were 53 .brand new gTLD’s with five or more registrations to 75 in November, representing a 42% increase.

CentralNic Passes 2 Million Registrations of New gTLD - CentralNic Group PLC has over 2.0 million domains registered using its platform representing 21% of all new gTLD domain names.
Of the 2+ million new gTLD registered through CentralNic 1,552,903 are .XYZ domain names. The only other extension using CentralNic that has 100,000+ is .website, although .online is quickly approaching with just about 95,000 domain names.

Last Call: 6 Number .Com's: Less than 8K Left Out of 1 Million - If you’re considering registering any 6 number Ccom domains (NNNNNN.com) I’m going calling “Last Call’.
As of publication less than 8,000 NNNNNN.com remain available for registration.

The new domain extension .XYZ has crossed the 1 Million domain name registration mark again.
However now all of the “free” Network Solutions (NetSol) domain names that were stuffed into customers accounts on a non-automatic renewal basis have run their course.

The new gTLD .Wang gained some 90,000 new domain registrations in the last day or so and over 160,000 new domain registrations since October 17th which is an increase of 50%
According to Registered.Today .Wang gained more than 90,000 new domain registrations yesterday.
According to ntldstats.com, the number of .Wang domain registration has grown from 285,000 on October 17th to over 445,000 on October 19th an increase of more than 50%.

.Org Adds 130K Registrations, Tops 10.5 Million: Registrants In China Own 3.2% - Public Interest Registry, the not-for-profit operator of the .org, .ngo and .ong domains, today released the results of its bi-annual domain name report “The Dashboard.”
The .Org domain name extension, added 130,865 additional registrations over the last 12 months, bringing the total domains under management (DUM) to 10,547,247.

Google has made a curious domain acquisition — Listen.in.
Technically it’s an Indian country code domain name, so perhaps we should just ignore the obvious phrase “Listen In”.
But it’s more fun if you don’t ignore it.
