How large is China? Big. - 57% of Domain Name Sales’ revenue coming from China.
This morning at NamesCon, Domain Name Sales VP of Sales Jeffrey Gabriel showed a slide with sales data from the past year:
Wow.
2% of leads generating 57% of the dollar volume of sales. That’s amazing.
Gabriel compared this to leads from other countries. The U.S. accounts for about one-third of leads and one-third of sales and dollar volume. Leads from the UK convert higher, while those from India convert more poorly.

.Club Sells Over 5,500 Premium Domains In Dec For Almost $615K - .Club just released it premium sales report for December 2015.
On December 16th .Club released 13,000 new premium names to the registrar channel, with many priced at $100 or lower
In all, 5,525 premium names were sold in December.
Total premium name sales for December, from all sources, came to $614,071.90.
Total premium name sales for Q4 2015 came to $2,350,116.47.
As of December 31, 2015, total cumulative sales of registry reserved premium .CLUB names came to $3,398,167.27.

55 Three Letter .Com's From My Former Portfolio Sold & Buyer Is NOT From China - I just noticed that 55 three-letter domain names (LLL.com) that I sold as part of my portfolio to Godaddy/Afternic, which was announced a week ago Monday, have already been sold off and the biggest surprise maybe the buyer was not from China.
Domain investor Nat Cohen’s Telepathy is now the owner of the following three-letter .com’s.
All appear to be the type of letter domain names favored by Chinese domain investors those without vowels or the letter “v”

DNPric.es Database Of Domain Sales Tops 1M: Total Sales Tops $1.6 Billion -
DNPric.es database of domain name sales passed over 1,000,000 historic records.
According to the developer of the site, not only it makes DNPric.es, the first one to gather so much public entries in one place, it is also times bigger than any other known data provider.
According to the statistics section on the site:
“The database has 1,089,771 sales records of 1,015,189 domain names totaling sales of $1,605,714,604”
That is over $1.6 Billion dollars in domain name sales.

Report: Domain 688.com Sold For $1.5 Million - According to a report appearing in ename.cn, the domain name 688.com just sold for about $1.5 Million dollars.
According to the report the sales price was 9,580,000 RMB which according to today’s exchange rate is $1,496,290.52.
The domain name 688.com did change ownership yesterday.
The domain was owned by a XiaoFeng Lin of China at the domain name registrar MAFF Inc. until December 5th when the whois information was updated to reflect LinXiaoFeng of DotMedia Limited as the new owner. The domain ... read more ...

Census.com, In Last Namescon Auction Sells To Mark Monitor Client - The domain name Census.com which was in the RightoftheDot.com domain name auction at Namescon in January 2015, just sold to a Mark Monitor client as the whois information changed yesterday.
The domain name Census.com was one of my favorite picks from that auction.
The domain name had a auction reserve of between $100,001 – $250,000
It will be interesting to see who wound up buying this domain.
Census.com as a parked page has an Alexa ranking in the 5 million range.

DomainPros Buys 260 Five Digit Domains For $1M; $3,850 Per - DomainPros.com announced today that it just acquired 260 five number domain names (NNNNN.com) for $1,000,000
That works out to just over $3,800 per domain name.
“Most of those 260 domains originally belonged to Marchex’s portfolio of 5 digit domains” which Godaddy bought from Marchex.
Back in April we announced that Godaddy paid $26.2 Million dollars for Marchex’s portfolio of over 200,000 domain names, however its not clear if Godaddy still owned the domain names that DomainPros.com acquired.

Publicly Traded Autodesk, Inc. Purchases Graphic.com Domain Name From GoDaddy.com - Publicly traded company Autodesk, Inc. has purchased the premium generic domain name Graphic.com from another public company, GoDaddy.com.
GoDaddy is listed on NYSE: GDDY with a market cap of $3.99 Billion. Autodesk is listed on NASDAQ: ADSK which has a $9.95 Billion market cap.
The domain name was part of the domain name portfolio GoDaddy acquired from Marchex in a $28.1 Million dollar deal in April 2015.

Veo.com Purchased By TD Ameritrade For $36K on NameJet.com Auction - Three letter domain name Veo.com has been acquired by TD Ameritrade, a domain name that was recently owned by New Ventures Services Corp according to whois records, prior to it selling for $36,100 on Namejet.com

Yahoo! Inc. Sells 2 Letter Domain Name AV.com - Yahoo! Inc. has sold the premium 2 letter domain name AV.com according to whois records. The domain name has transferred to domain name registrar eName.
Also according to whois records, the buyer is a Jack Shen from Shanghai China.
This isn’t the first time that Yahoo! has offered AV.com, as they listed the domain for sale on Sedo.com in 2013 but the domain name did not sell at that time when it had a reserve price range of $1,000,00-$1,499,999.

MM.com Domain Sells After $1.2 Million Purchase - The domain name MM.com has been confirmed sold! The transaction took place last Wednesday, June 3, 2015 with the domain name being acquired by Jinxin Wang Luo of Fujian, China according to whois records.
I did try and get a purchase price but the buyer did not wish to share the details publicly.

Pixel Capital buys domain names to enter online travel market.
Australian company Pixel Capital Pty Ltd announced last week that it had acquired Accommodation.com and Accommodation.co.uk for a combined $528,000 USD.
Both domain names were owned by a British company and were developed at one point.
