Another UDRP FAIL! As Panel Refuses to Transfer a Domain Used for Phishing - Another interesting UDRP where a domain name was found to be used for Phishing and fraud but the panel refuses to transfer it because the trademark wasn’t identical or confusingly similar to a trademark or service mark in which Complainant had rights.
Yes its a head scratcher.

IBM is Buying Weather.com - According to USAToday.com, International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) has agreed to acquire the Weather Company’s data and digital properties which would include Weather.com
Financial terms weren’t disclosed. But the deal is valued at more than $2 billion

CENTR 3Q Report; There Are 298.4 Million Domains adult 1.6% - CENTR’spublished its DomainWire Stat Report for the third quarter of 2015, covering status and trends in global top-level domains.
CENTR is the association of European country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registries
According to the report there are now over 1,000 top level domains available with combined registrations at 298.4 million.
Combined growth over the third quarter of 2015 was 1.6% which in terms of absolute values was fairly evenly split between the ccTLDs, new gTLDs and legacy gTLDs.

Paul Vixie, Member Internet Hall of Fame: "New gTLD module is a Money Grab & Mistake" - Dr Paul Vixie, a member of the Internet Hall of Fame has called the new gTLD program a money grab and a mistake and called out ICANN for allowing it to happen saying it “indicates corruption.”

Looks Like Sony Is Planning On A Sequel To Bad Teacher: "Another Bad Teacher" Based on Domains - It Looks like Sony Is planning on A Sequel to the 2011 hit Bad Teacher that starred Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake.

The National Rifle Association, which applied to operate the new domain extension .NRA, registered its 1st domain names and we have the list for you.

The new domain extension .XYZ has crossed the 1 Million domain name registration mark again.
However now all of the “free” Network Solutions (NetSol) domain names that were stuffed into customers accounts on a non-automatic renewal basis have run their course.

Domain Holder Loses UDRP On RentMyPartyBus.com Files Federal Lawsuit - The domain holder who lost a UDRP on the domain name RentMyPartyBus.com has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Arizona.
Plaintiff Aleksey Silenko is the Director of Business for Safeway Transit LLC, a Minnesota company who is the named registrant for the domain name rentmypartybus.com.
It’s a pretty interesting case, since the “trademark holder” was first incorporated on May 1, 2014 but in its trademark application to the USPTO it alleged first use in 2002.

Looks like 86 Sunrise Domains For .Law; 30 For .Abogado But Not All Registrants Are Lawyers - The new gTLD’s .Law and .abogado are in general availability but due to the new domain extensions being restricted, registrations are taking a while to show up in the zone file.
Today it appears the domain names registered in the Sunrise Period were loaded into the zone and at the moment the count is 86 domain name registrations in .law and 30 for .abogado.
However interestingly there seems to be some registrants in Sunrise by Companies that are not lawyers.

It is all about a eights - The Sedo auction for 8888828.com was paid and hit the Sedo sales wire, the name sold for $5,103, yes a 7N.com. The seller is local to me actually about 30 minutes away in King of Prussia, DomainDakini.com purchased the domain name back in 2014, it looks like from a Chinese registrant who hand regged the domain back in 2013.
