BY.com Added To Namescon Auction; Get's $500K Bid: My Interview W/ The Owner - The two letter domain name BY.com has just been added to the RightoftheDot.com domain name auction as part of the  Namescon conference. The domain name already has gotten a bid of $500,000 on Namejet.com in pre-bidding. No only is BY.com become the 4th two letter .com in the auction, but it joins AT.com as the second two letter domain that is a word. I had a chance to chat with the owner of the domain, André Eidskrem, about the very interesting history behind the domain name and why he is now ... read more ...

With 24 hours to go, all .Club domains in auction have 2+ bids - .Club auction is sizzling on Sedo. The .Club numeric domain name auction on Sedo is a rare sight: All 37 domain names have bids and will sell when the auction closes tomorrow. In fact, each domain name has at least two bidders, so it’s likely we’ll see lots of activity over the next 24 hours. 666.club leads the pack with 49 bids and a current price of $3,200. I’ve always found this to be an interesting number. It’s a lucky number in China, while elsewhere it is considered the mark of the ... read more ...

The Domain KanyeForPresident.Com Goes Up For Sale - The domain name that made international news, KanyeForPresident.com has gone up for sale on Flippa.com Back in August at the MTV Video awards Kanye West announced he will be running for President of the United States in 2020. A 24-year-old Tramal Ferguson of Marietta, Georgia registered the domain name KanyeForPresident.com “on a whim back in April 2015” and reportedly turned down offers as high as $80,000, shortly after Mr. West’s announcement. Now the domain is at auction on Flippa.com. The ... read more ...

Scenes from a domain name auction in China - These are some of the Chinese domain name investors buying your domains. The domain name market in China is hot and is driving major price appreciation, especially in short domain names. What’s the Chinese domain name community like? A lot like that in other parts of the world. It has its own “big personalities” and players. It also has its own gatherings and domain name auctions. Last month, 域名圈 organized a live domain name auction in Beijing that attracted 200-300 people. 域名圈 ... read more ...

Thoughts on yesterday’s $1 million domain name auction - A strong auction with a headline-grabbing .club sale but dominated by .com. By now you’ve probably read a bit about yesterday’s Right of the Dot domain name auction at NamesCon. Here are my takeaways: 1. The auction sold just shy of $1 million worth of domain names. It’s not the glory years of 7 or 8 years ago, but that’s a total I don’t think we’ve seen in a while at a domainer conference auction. 2. The sell-through rate of about 65% is excellent. ROTD ... read more ...

My picks for a Heritage Auctions domain name auction - Reasonable reserves should lead to some good sales in HA.com’s first domain name auction. The Heritage Auctions domain name auction, the first domain name auction to be undertaken by a major auction house, ends one week from today. The actual auction will take place on November 21. Reserves will be posted on HA.com tonight, but after taking an advance look, it seems like there are some great domains with very reasonable reserves. I’m not sure if these will sell, ... read more ...

Observations from Moniker’s Live Auction - Why sales were low and what it says about the current state of domain name auctions. Moniker’s live auctions (low no reserve and premium) last week sold just over $400,000 of domain names. The top seller was Won.com at $115,000. This is obviously a low number. I have two observations from the results: 1. A lot of these domains would have sold for much more back in 2007. Check these out: TrafficJam.com $11,500 OfficePark.com $6,000 Exhausted.com $2,000 All ... read more ...

PaintballGuns.com Auction Attracts Attention during eBay - eBay domain name auction attracting lots of bids. It’s unusual for a good domain name to be auctioned on eBay, but an auction for PaintballGuns.com has topped $20,000 with just three days to go. There is a reserve on the domain name and no indication from the seller about what it is, which means the auction could be for naught. But the reserve has already been lowered once, and could be lowered again to strike a deal. So how much is this domain name worth? Fortunately ... read more ...

Goldberger on Toys.com Team, eToys.com Buyer Remains Mystery - Follow up to yesterday’s auction story. I spent several hours yesterday reading through bankruptcy documents before breaking the news about a major domain name auction in Delaware on February 4. Since then I’ve read more documents to try to piece together the major winners at the auction. The two high profile winners — Faculty Lounge Partners and Eagle, LLC probably won’t ring a bell with you. It appears they were set up to buy domains in the auction. There’s ... read more ...

Sedo Completes Sale of All-In.com for $40,000 - Domain name aftermarket completes sale of domain name to Canadian man. Domain name aftermarket Sedo has completed the sale of All-In.com for $40,000 to a Canadian man. The seller was Internet Media Consutlants SA of Switzerland. There is currently a placeholder on the page, but we can assume the domain name will be used for Poker, as “all in” is a common poker term. It’s a good thing this name wasn’t named by Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear in his assault ... read more ...

Big Day for Online Domain Name Auctions - Sedo and Moniker auctions end today. Sedo’s February Great Domains auction and Moniker’s TRAFFIC silent auction both end today. Moniker Auction Nets $4.4 Million, SkiResorts.com sells for $850,000 - Moniker’s live domain auction ends with mixed results. If tonight’s domain name auction was a barometer for the domain industry, we know nothing more than we did before the auction began. The results were, well, mediocre. Before it began, I set a personal range for the auction. Anything less than $4 million would be a failure, anything greater than $6M would be a success. The auction ended up squarely in the middle, with $4.4 million changing hands (including ... read more ...

First Day of TRAFFIC Domain Name Auction Nets $200,000 - The first round of auctions at TRAFFIC concludes with nearly $200,000 in sales. For the first time ever, the TRAFFIC domain conference this week in Las Vegas includes two rounds of live auction. The first round, which took place last night, included low- and no- reserve domains. Moniker tallied $191,550 in sales on 73 names with a median price of $1,050. There were 83 names in the auction. February T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Auction Could Be Record-Setting - First cut at premium domain names looks promising. It’s been six months since Moniker and TRAFFIC teamed up to shatter a domain name auction record, selling over $10M in domains in an afternoon. Since that time no auctions have come close to this record. After reviewing the first cut of premium domains for next month’s TRAFFIC conference in Las Vegas, it looks like this one can shatter the previous record. There’s a big caveat though: it depends on the reserves ... read more ...
