BY.com Added To Namescon Auction; Get's $500K Bid: My Interview W/ The Owner - The two letter domain name BY.com has just been added to the RightoftheDot.com domain name auction as part of the  Namescon conference. The domain name already has gotten a bid of $500,000 on Namejet.com in pre-bidding. No only is BY.com become the 4th two letter .com in the auction, but it joins AT.com as the second two letter domain that is a word. After Setting Records On Kickstarter, Smartwatch Company Pebble Secures Pebble.com - Smartwatch company Pebble Technology first made headlines 3 years ago when it raised $10 Million dollars for the e-paper watch on Kickstarter. In early 2015, Pebble broke Kickstarter records when it crowdfunded Pebble Time raising $1 Million in 49 minutes and then set a record for raising the most money on Kickstarter,  over $20 Million dollars for its smartwatch Pebble Time. CB Insights: Covers World's Most Popular Non-.com Startup Domains, though Confused on New gTLD's - CB Insights.com which covers the startup/ venture capital markets published an interesting post entitled “The Non-Dotcom Bubble: The World’s Most Popular Startup Domains Other Than .Com” The story contains a chart tracking the most popular Non-.Com domain name extensions for funded tech companies from 2010-2015. Time To Look during Online Education names as University of Phoenix Sees Drop off - The University of Phoenix is owned by Apollo Education Group which trades publicly under the symbol of APOL. The company reported dismal earnings and is now laying off 900 employees. The company has watched half of their enrollment drop in 5 years. Is Microsoft Getting Ready To Replace Internet Explorer ? - With Microsoft getting ready for a Windows 10 launch there is talk they may be scrapping Internet Explorer for a new browser with the codename Spartan. Law Enforcement Cracks Down on a Dark Web, Seizes 400 .onion domains - We have had news stories before about international law enforcement agencies banding together to take down websites that deal in illicit goods or counterfeit merchandise. Chinese Government Launches Attack Against iCloud Users - According to Ars Technica it seems that China is running a man-in-the-middle attack on iCloud users. Start adult Defense.net Covered on Tech Crunch - Its not everyday you see a start up built on a .net, I usually see more built on a .co or .me.  Defense.net is a start up focused on DDOS mitigation services. The company got a write up this morning on Tech Crunch. According to Crunchbase the company has raised $9.5 million.
