.Auto .Car, .Cars Get 1st day Registrations during $60K Per Domain - The 1st day of the Early Access Program (EAP) opened up yesterday for the new gTLD’s .Auto, .Car and .Cars with day 1 prices set at $59,049.99 for each domain name at Godaddy and there appears to have been some takers at that price.

Google Finally Acquires Alphabetinc.com -
Google finally acquired a domain name you thought it would have gotten well before its run on buying Alphabet domains, Alphabetinc.com.
As we have been reporting Google since launching abc.xyz as the website for its holding company Alphabet, Inc has been acquiring all letter of the Alphabet they could get and now owns 20 of the possible 26 (actually 25 domains since a.com is reserved by IANA/ICANN).

Google Adds abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwx.com to the Collection Of Alphabet Domains - Google has just added another “Alphabet” domain name to its collection buying the domain name abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwx.com.
The domain name was most recently owned by the The Giardino Law Firm, Inc of San Antonio and by a domainer in Tennessee before that.
The domain has an original creation date of 2003.
The domain name is another Google acquisition since acquiring abc.xyz for its Corporate parent Alphabet.

Com Laude published the 3rd Report "Gazetteer of Domain Names" - Corporate domain name brand protection company and registrar, Com Laude published its third Gazetteer of domain names, highlighting the key changes in another significant year for the industry.

What Do Big Brands Pay To Protect & Buy Domains? Wikileaks Give Some Clues: Hint "A Lot" - What do big companies that use brand protection company’s to register and buy domain names spend to protect, acquire, register and renew domain names?
WikiLeaks.org published invoices from MarkMonitor to Sony, documents (PDF)
In those invoices published by WikiLeaks , MarkMonitor.com billed Sony $1,000 several times for a “Domain Acquisition Fee” for domain names that are not owned by Sony.

Ralph Lauren Launching New PoloTech Shirt, Domains Registered In The 90's - Ralph Lauren is getting ready for an August 27, 2015 launch of a “smart shirt” using the moniker of PoloTech according to BrandChannel.com.
As a domain name investor, I often read articles like the above mentioned and pick out generic terms and check the availability of the them as domain names. Who needs .Sucks? Microsoft registers Microsoft Edge Sucks domains in .com. - Company registers multiple derogatory domain names related to its new browser.
There’s been a lot of chatter lately about the .Sucks domain name and how brands feel like they’re being coerced into paying big bucks to protect themselves. At the same time, a lot of these companies aren’t paying $10 to register BrandSucks.com.

Brands blank a symbol with .Sucks defensive registrations - Knee-jerk reaction doesn’t make sense and leaves companies vulnerable.
I’m not a fan of .sucks business model. I’m not a fan of charging big brands a premium to protect their brands with the veiled threat of someone creating a gripe site against the company.
