Dot.Asia Domain Auction Results -
.Asia sunrise auctions are over with solid results.
I haven’t written much about .asia, a new top level domain. Perhaps it’s because I think it’s a silly domain (coming soon, .SouthAmerica!). So I missed the conclusion of the .asia sunrise period auctions earlier this month. Here’s a look at the top sales:
discover.asia $112,111
sex.asia 83334
buy.asia 73000
sexshop.asia 53607
gold.asia 46602
models.asia 41009
homes.asia 40000

Be Wary of Used.com and Penny.com Auctions during Sedo -
“Meet the seller” shows these auctions may be bogus.
I was excited to see that Used.com and Penny.com were on auction at Sedo today. These are both six figure domains. But my excitement was tempered after looking at the “meet the seller” data on the auctions.
“Meet the seller” is a new feature Sedo introduced this week. It allows you to see details about the seller of a domain, including their country, when they joined Sedo, and a rating of their activity. ... read more ...

Competition Works: Moniker Changes Auction Terms -
Moniker shortens length of exclusivity period and changes auto-renew clause.
In an e-mail announcement sent to customers, Moniker announced it is changing the exclusivity period for domains submitted for its live and silent auctions. These changes are likely due to increased competition at upcoming auction events, including five separate auctions taking place at TRAFFIC in Brooklyn next month (although only two are accepting submissions from domainers).
The new period ... read more ...
Rick Latona Auction to Be Simulcast on Web; Other Updates -
Auction at TRAFFIC conference will allow for remote bidding.
Rick Latona announced that his auction at next month’s TRAFFIC conference will be simulcast on the web. The auction will use Proxibid, which Latona calls the “biggest and best online auction company in the business.”
Latona’s auction will include his own domains, including some real winners such as SecurityAlarms.com, LotteryNumbers.com, and Cyberspace.com. It is unclear how the reserves and pricing ... read more ...

Sedo Revamps Offers Page and Process -
Domain aftermarket adds new features for buying and selling domain names.
Domain name aftermarket Sedo has revamped how domain details pages look to personalize transactions.
The changes add information about the seller of the domain, including how much activity the seller has participated in as a seller on Sedo. This is helpful for domain buyers tired of placing offers and not receiving a response.
Once negotiations begin between seller and buyer, the seller will ... read more ...

How to Edit Domain Submissions to TrafficZ Auction -
If you submitted domains to the TrafficZ/Aftermarket.com auction at TRAFFIC, here’s how to add descriptions to each of your domains.
If you’ve already submitted domains to the TrafficZ auction taking place at TRAFFIC next month in New York, you should consider adding descriptions to each of your domains.
(If you haven’t yet submitted domains, here’s a quick tutorial.)
The process for adding descriptions is fairly simple. Log in to your auction manager at ... read more ...

Moniker SES: Steals of a Year -
If you didn’t bid in Moniker’s SES auction, you missed out on some great deals.
If you haven’t already heard, Moniker’s live auction at Search Engine Strategies in San Jose was a flop. It’s just further proof that selling domains to non-domainers (unless they are into adult) is a challenge. The official tally on Moniker’s web site is about $16,000 in sales. It doesn’t include a sale of Groceries.us which appeared sold in the auction for $4,000 but ... read more ...

Bido.com Crashes Again -
Bido crashes during second auction for FixedLoans.com.
Sahar Sarid’s blog posts tell it all. Yesterday his post was titled “Bido is Down, But Not For Long!”. Today’s post: “Bido Auctions No More (For Now)“.
For the second straight day, Bido crashed during the auction for FixedLoans.com. I had reasonable success logging in and watching the auction for the first 50 minutes, but then I just got a blank screen after that.
When I was finally able to access ... read more ...

Bido: FixedLoans.com Auction and New Chat Feature -
Domain sold at previous TRAFFIC auction on the block at Bido, Bido Chat in the works.
Bido’s auction on Wednesday will be for FixedLoans.com. This will be an interesting auction to watch because the domain was sold at a TRAFFIC conference in 2006 for $10,000.
Some may view this auction as a test of Bido’s clout in the domain auction business, but it could really go either way. If it sells for more than $10,000 it could be because fixed loans are getting a ... read more ...
Sedo Sells JTR.com for $60,000 (Updated) -
Three character domain name leads sales chart for Sedo this week.
Domain brokerage Sedo has sold JTR.com for 60,000 EUR, or about $90,000 $60,000. [Updated 8-20-08: The information received from Sedo mistakenly listed the domain sold at 60,000 EUR rather than the correct $60,000 USD.] This is a solid three character domain name with many acronyms.
Sedo also concluded a good Great Domains sale, Doctor.net for 21,760 EUR.
These two sales were in Euros, which has ... read more ...

Sedo Completes Website.org Sale for 20,500 EUR -
.Org, .info lead sales at Sedo this week
It’s not often that a domain name sales venue’s top sale is a .org or .info domain name, but that was the case this week at Sedo. The company sold Website.org for 20,500 EUR (roughly $30,000 USD). The company also completed its sale of Printer.info for $21,500. That particular domain was sold at auction a while back but the transaction was just completed.
Its top .com domain sale was LiveWater.com at $17,500 EUR, which ... read more ...
.Me Auctions Getting Out of Hand; Brazilian Buys Toyota.me -
Why are .me domain auctions going so high? And why so many trademark domains?
Auctions for .me domain names continue, but we’ve already seen some eye popping sales. Even more peculiar is the number of trademarks going for big dollars.
Toyota.me is the big one you’ve been reading about. It sold for $90,025. The whois record for Toyota.com Toyota.me now shows a Brazilian man Georg Kohler as the owner. I hope he has some sort of connection to the car company ... read more ...

Perhaps the adult entertainment industry is seeing an uptick in business as the economy heads the other way.
Moniker’s live adult domain name auction at InterNext in Hollywood Florida is underway and it has already sold more money worth of domains than the company’s last auction through about 2/3 of the domains. How To: Submit Domains to TrafficZ Auction -
With the exception of some branding issues, submission process is easy.
I just finished submitting a half dozen domains to TrafficZ’s first live auction to be held at the TRAFFIC conference next month in Brooklyn. The submission process is done completely via a web based system and is easy to follow.
In fact, the only confusion you might encounter is branding. You’ll probably think of this auction as the TrafficZ auction. TrafficZ is part of Thought Convergence. ... read more ...

Sedo Sells InsuranceLeads.com for $50,000 -
Another strong week for Sedo sales.
Sedo finalized the sale of InsuranceLeads.com last week for $50,000. The leads business is huge, and insurance leads are one of the most popular categories. Leads companies gather leads from search engine marketing (including PPC) and affiliate networks and resell these to insurance agents, repair companies, real estate agents, etc. I think this will be a solid buy for ITSOL, a California-based leads company. An example of a ... read more ...

.Me Domain Name Auctions to Last a Loooong Time -
Bids in final 24 hours extend auctions by 24 hours.
I haven’t been paying much attention to the .me domain name auctions, but Michael Berkens has. Some of the domains are being bid up rather high, including Insure.me (135 bids, $26,130), Hug.me (74 bids, $13,016), Secure.me (93 bids, $7,540) and Portland.me (230 bids, $6,151).
When will the auctions end? It could be a very, very long time before we find out. You see, the .me auctions get extended if there are ... read more ...

The Domain King Strikes Gold Again: Property.com sole to Foreclosure.com - Rick Schwartz just announced that he has sold Property.com to Foreclosure.com
Although price and terms we not disclosed we would expect that it was a very lucrative deal for Rick and I’m sure that he is going to retain a interest in the new venture.
Rick continues to lead the industry with ground breaking deals.
This is really a great story because property.com, is a domain that Rick acquired just a few years ago for $750K.

Bido.com Sells Dickinson for $12,000 -
Bido has sold its most expensive domain to date.
Upstart domain auction house Bido has sold Dickinson.com for $12,000, a record for the site.
Originally billed as a geo-related domain name, Dickinson.com was listed in the “Family names” category on Bido. I don’t think it’s a particularly strong geo domain given the cities in question, so I agree with this move. The final sales price was in line with my expectations.

How to Solve Auction Submission Bias with Financial Incentives -
Solving Submission Bias with Financial Incentives
Long time users of Craigslist bemoan that there’s so much spam on the site. Google for “craigslist submitter” and you’ll see ads for software that will automatically submit ads to Craigslist every few minutes. But there’s a simple solution to this problem: if Craigslist charged 25 cents per ad submission, the volume of spam would drop overnight but the volume of legitimate submissions would hardly change.
