Another 7 total sale? Futbol.com is Sold - GoDaddy.com has sold the premium domain name Futbol.com which is the word that most of the world outside of the US refers to as Soccer. The domain name Futbol.com was one of the 200,000+ domain names that Godaddy bought from Marchex or $28.1 Million in April of this year. I broke the news on TheDomains that GoDaddy sold Beijing.com in May, shortly after they acquired the Marchex portfolio in what was very likely a 7 figure transaction. GoDaddy posts the initial 2014 Super Bowl Commercial - No naked women. Just men this time. GoDaddy has published one of its Super Bowl Commercials that will air during the big game February 2. As promised, it’s a distinct departure from previous years in which the company featured scantily clad women. This time it is scantily clad men, although Danica Patrick still plays a role. Compared to the previous commercial along these lines featuring Jean-Claude van Damme, I think this commercial says less about what GoDaddy ... read more ...

GoDaddy tests new lander for lapsed domain names - GoDaddy drops PPC ads on expired domains in favor of auction promotion. A domain name registrar typically parks a domain when it expires. The expired domain parked page usually notifies visitors that the domain is expired and up for auction with a fairly subtle notice toward the top of the page. It appears GoDaddy is trying something different. Check out the landing page you see if you visit 5sg.com, which recently expired and is up for auction at GoDaddy: Gone are ... read more ...

GoDaddy’s offline selling of .LA in Los Angeles - Old school advertising to promote the .la domain name. GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving tweeted a photo of a .LA billboard in Los Angeles yesterday (see photo). GoDaddy uses discerning consult to shred customers - GoDaddy segments its customers using quick survey. Indeed, GoDaddy is working to customize what you see — and surely what the company tries to sell you — based on the type of business you run. The first question reads “Which best describes you?”, ... read more ...

A pointed (yet big) change in GoDaddy’s ads - Verisign paying to include .com in GoDaddy ad. I was watching the Cardinals game last night when I noticed ads for GoDaddy.com behind the batter. This is nothing new. GoDaddy frequently advertises on baseball broadcasts. But something about the ad looked different. Take a look. Can’t see the difference? Here’s a close-up. We already know that GoDaddy is rebranding by dropping .com from its name. But this ad not only drops the .com from the original GoDaddy.com ... read more ...

Go Daddy starts display smallest offer cost alongside unpriced Afternic listings - Andrew, I had 40 offers via Godaddy/Sedo $60 special, closed 0 (ZERO). I followed up on a few of the domains, and saw some recent reg’s in lessor extensions, found out these were the people making the offers. They were clueless about the aftermarket process, and thought they could pay a premium of $60 instead of $10 to get the domain. I managed to close 3 deals on my own, each in the 4 figure range.
