Appellita: a new apparatus for anticipating domain names - Some innovative approaches to finding good domain names. There are a bunch of brand name and domain name generators on the web. Every once in a while, one comes along with a unique twist that makes it worth a look. That’s the case with Appellita, a new service that soft launched in last August. It was created by San Antonio entrepreneur Daisy Egeolu. Appellita, like basically all name generators, has a system that adds prefixes and suffixes to keywords to find domains. But it goes beyond that. Two ... read more ...

GoDaddy contrast "Ad" nomination in hunt results - Search results that are bumped up through marketing agreements get a new label. GoDaddy is testing the use of an “ad” designation in its domain name search results. Search results that have their locations influenced by a registry paying to bump up the result are sometimes labeled with the designation. The label is similar to the “premium” label placed next to aftermarket domains listed by sellers. Here’s an example: GoDaddy has been testing the label for several months. GoDaddy’s DomainFinder App advances domain name selection - App makes it easier to narrow in on the best domain name. GoDaddy recently released an iOS app for finding and registering domain names called GoDaddy DomainFinder. Many of its features are similar to what you find on GoDaddy.com and other registrar sites. Namecheap hunt “favorites” is cool. I’m still watchful for improved new TLD search. - Namecheap’s interface is a nice upgrade for domain discovery. It could do better with TLD context, though. Namecheap unveiled a new domain searching interface this morning. The highlight for me is the ability to pick favorite TLDs for future searches. For example, I “hearted” .com, .zone, .guru and .in. When I search for domains in the future I can see results for these favorite extensions by clicking on the Favorites tab. This is a nice upgrade as I no longer ... read more ...

New TLDs are here though domain hunt isn’t prepared yet. Here are 4 examples. - Domain name registrars aren’t ready to suggest new TLDs to customers. As of 11 am EST today, the first set of Latin script new top level domain names came to market. None of this “Early Access Program” stuff. Just show up, find the domain you want, and register it for regular prices just like other domains. Unfortunately for Donuts, which owns the seven top level domain names now available, none of the registrars are ready for the big shift in domain name search. ... read more ...

2 pointed changes to GoDaddy.com that are a large understanding to a domain industry - GoDaddy drops the .com and the ubiquitous drop down box for domain name search. GoDaddy rolled out a new marketing message and site enhancements overnight. There are two subtle changes to GoDaddy.com that are actually a big deal to the new top level domain name and domain investor communities. First, GoDaddy dropped the .com from its logo. It announced this change during a conference for new TLD applicants in March. Although it has been dropping .com from some of ... read more ...
