.Club celebrates the first anniversary of its general availability tomorrow. The top level domain name has eclipsed 200,000 domain names, making it one of the most-registered new top level domain names.
What are people doing with these domain names? I once again turned to dataprovider.com to take a look underneath the hood.

Alpnames.com Offering Free .Party New gTLD Domain Name Registrations - Alpnames.com the registrar who offered free and then $.49 domain names for .Science which just broke the 250,000 domain registration mark, announced today that is was now offering free .Party domains.
Famous Four Media is the registry for both .Science and .Party.
As we discussed before Alpnames.com which is located in Gibraltar as is Famous Four, only seems to have sold registrations on Famous Four’s extensions.

There’s been quite a bit of mainstream coverage this past week about presidential candidate Carly Fiorina and domain names.
The press has said that she forgot to register CarlyFiorina.org. Some other person registered it and is using it to highlight layoffs under her tenure at HP.
(As it turns out, her company actually used to own the domain name and let it expire.)

Organizer of "Great Run" events intent in retreat domain name hijacking - Panel finds that group brought was attempting to reverse domain name hijack GreatRun.com.
Nova International Limited, the company that organizes the Great Run series of events, has been found to have engaged in reverse domain name hijacking in a UDRP for GreatRun.com.
The complainants use the domain name GreatRun.org, which it registered in 2002.
Panelist Gabriela Kennedy gave three reasons she believes Nova International brought its case in abuse of the policy:

It's Official: NameJet Will Only Report Pending Delete Domains With 3 Or More Bidders - NameJet.com, the domain auction platform, recently implemented a change to how they display backorder information for dropping domains; i.e. domains in “pending delete” status.
Since late-April NameJet is no longer displaying backorder or bid information for domains with less than 3 backorders on pending delete domains.
This might make it more difficult for customers to find domains that already have some interest and value, but it will prevent people from leveraging the research efforts ... read more ...

A Look at the Current State of ccTLDs, Particularly in Europe -
European ccTLDs have passed 67 million registrations in total at a net growth of 0.7% over the past quarter, according to the new DomainWire report by Council of European National Top level Domain Registries (CENTR).
According to the report, top 20 largest ccTLDs represent roughly 82% of all ccTLD registrations globally and 38% of all domain names globally (gTLDs, ccTLDs, etc). The ccTLD for Tokelau (.tk) has the largest zone with 28 million reported domain names. However, it offers mostly ... read more ...

Sedo Transactions Total $1.5 Million Led by Daikuan.cn At 75,000 Euros - Over the past week, 583 transactions took place on Sedo’s marketplace and via SedoMLS, totaling $1.5 Million
57% of total sales were the result of Buy Now listings.
All sales were led by daikuan.cn for 75,000 Euro’s which seems to mean “loan” or “make a loan” followed by Historia.com which sold for $60,000

Which new TLDs I'm renewing (and not) - I’ve renewed most of my new TLDs so far, but that might change.
New top level domain names have been out for over a year now, and that means those of us who registered them are facing renewal decisions.
We already know early renewal results, at least from the biggest registry: for Donuts, early renewal rates ranged from 55%-72% per top level domain.

Verisign has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a “searchable web whois”. The application was filed in 2012 and just published today.
