$2.6 Million Social.com Sale Could Make Moniker Auction a Big One - Pending sale would give Moniker one of its biggest auctions ever. I’ve been tracking the potential sale of Social.com for a couple weeks now. The domain name was listed in Moniker’s live domain name auction for Barcelona (which actually ended up taking place online only last week). A legitimate $2.5 million dollar bid was placed in the auction, and sources tell me there may have been other interested parties. Then the domain was omitted from the extended auction ... read more ...

Moviles.net Domain Name Sells for $35,000 - Spanish language domain name tops Sedo’s weekly charts. It’s an interesting week when Sedo’s top domain name sale is only 25,000 EUR (about $35,000 USD). It’s even more interesting when that domain name is a Spanish language .net. But this past week Moviles.net took the crown at Sedo. “Moviles” means mobile in Spanish, and the domain name appears to have been used as a web site before being purchased. It is now temporarily parked at GoDaddy. Although ... read more ...

Let’s Increase a Size of “For Sale” Signs - Parked pages need to evolve into domain sales machines. It’s common wisdom that putting a notice on your parked domain name that it’s for sale likely decreases your pay-per-click click through rate. That’s part of the reason any “for sale” notices on parked pages are inconspicuous. With pay-per-click revenue down sharply, perhaps the equation is flipping so that it makes sense to make the sale notice bigger. If you have a domain that attracts 10 people ... read more ...

Median Domain Name Sales Price Down 15% - Median price drop not as severe as average. Last week I wrote about Sedo’s 2008 Market Study, which showed a 21% drop in the average sales price of domain names to $2,098. I explained that the “average” number doesn’t matter, and that we should really pay attention to the median. The median is the midpoint. If you ordered all 36,884 domain names from lowest price to highest, the median would be right in the middle (technically, the average of the 18,442th ... read more ...

Sedo Sells InsuranceLeads.com for $50,000 - Another strong week for Sedo sales. Sedo finalized the sale of InsuranceLeads.com last week for $50,000. The leads business is huge, and insurance leads are one of the most popular categories. Leads companies gather leads from search engine marketing (including PPC) and affiliate networks and resell these to insurance agents, repair companies, real estate agents, etc. I think this will be a solid buy for ITSOL, a California-based leads company.
