Microsoft: Not lifting bid for Yahoo - Microsoft’s Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Wednesday that his company’s $44 billion offer for Yahoo reflects Yahoo’s worth and Microsoft has no plan to raise it.
“We know what Yahoo’s worth. $44 billion is a lot of money,” Ballmer said at a conference in Milan.
Ballmer said Microsoft is “prepared to move forward alone without Yahoo” if the bid doesn’t succeed.

Department of Justice Looking during Yahoo-Google Test - According to a report in Reuters, the Justice Department is reportedly looking into antitrust implications of Yahoo’s decision to outsource some of its online ads to Google.
As we reported a couple of weeks ago, Yahoo tested about 3% of its traffic by having Google serve up ads, instead of its own system.
According to the report The Justice Department is concerned that a two-week test run that Yahoo initiated with Google may violate antitrust laws.

With crude oil prices at $118 a barrel, (hitting $119.90 on tuesday), the question now is not if gas will hit $4 a gallon, but when will it hit $5.
The Fed must share blame for the spike in all commodity prices, since cutting its key federal funds rate to 2.25% from 5.25% starting back in September 2007. At that time Oil was trading at $70 a barrel.
Each fed fund rate cut weakens the dollar.

Google Sued for “Selling false AdSense Keyword Ads” - An advertiser sued Google in federal court Tuesday claiming the company deceived him and charged for ads displayed on third party Web sites, even though he left blank an “optional” box that seemed to address the issue.
The lawsuit accuses Google of defrauding advertisers out of millions of dollars collectively by “redefining the universally understood meaning of an input form left blank.”

For the second year in a row, Sedo has been selected as the best online sales venue for buying and selling domain names. In a survey of 841 domain name professionals, 51% selected Sedo as the top online sales venue. Last year Sedo was first but only grabbed 36% of the vote.

Survey: Domainers Still Bullish on Domain Name Parking -
Three-quarters of domain industry believes parking revenue will be same or higher compared to 2007.
Despite all of the bad news about domain parking lately, the domain industry as a whole is still very bullish on domain parking. 75% of respondents in Domain Name Wire’s Third Annual domain name survey think earnings will be at least as good in 2008 as 2007. 45% think RPM rates (revenue per thousand views) will increase in 2008.

Its Better in a Bahamas - Having spend a few days in Paradise Island, in the Bahamas, it seems the economy is not a problem everywhere.
In the Marina by the Atlantis hotel, there are no less than 20 mega yachts docked (yachts over 100 Ft).

Google’s 1st Q increase Tops Estimates: Stock adult 20% after hours - Google released it 1st Quater profit’s today after the market closed soundly beating Wall Street’s estimates.,
Google’s net income rose 30% to $1.31 billion, or $4.12 per share.
Excluding one-time charges, Google said it earned $1.54 billion, or $4.84 per share, beating estimates of analysts polled by Thomson Financial, who typically exclude one-time items from their estimates, of $4.52 cents per share.
Sales rose 42% to $5.2 billion.

For the second year in a row, Sedo tops the Domain Name Wire survey.
Sedo is the top choice for parking domain names, according to a survey of 841 domain name industry participants. 48% of those surveyed picked Sedo as the best domain name parking program. Last year Sedo was the winner as well but only garnered 32% of the vote. In the 2006 survey Sedo only pulled in 19%.
