Just how most did .Blog and .Store sell for? - Here’s a rough idea.
On Friday I wrote about Minds + Machines and its payoff for losing the .blog and .store domain name auctions. Primer Nivel won the auction for .blog and Radix walked home with .Store. How much did they pay for these domain names?
We don’t know for sure based on the data Minds + Machines disclosed, but we can get a general idea of the combined total.
Minds + Machines pocketed $3.4 million. This includes its proceeds from these two auctions plus its refund from ICANN for withdrawing ... read more ...

Why Sonic.net rebranded as Sonic, and how it got Sonic.com - Nearly decades after it was founded, Sonic.net acquired the matching .com domain name and rebranded.
After 20 years of being known as Sonic.net, the California ISP and telecom rebranded as merely “Sonic” after acquiring Sonic.com.When Dane Jasper co-founded California ISP and telecom company Sonic.net in 1994, he settled on .net because the .com was already taken.
Another California company, Sonic Solutions, had registered Sonic.com the year before. Using a .net didn’t seem like a big problem ... read more ...
36 End User Domain Name Purchases - Here are 36 domain names sold at Sedo recently that were acquired by end users.
Sedo had another strong batch of sales last week: 12 spanning $10k – $18k and another 4 ranging from $35k all the way up to $150k. Most of the big-ticket items couldn’t be pinned down conclusively – either because the domains are unused and under privacy or because the transfers remain incomplete. One $60k purchase – Employer.com – can be ascribed to a domain investor, but I haven’t yet asked him whether ... read more ...

Flippa Domain Sales for The Past Week Led by Pharmaceuticals.com during $50,000 - Flippa had a nice week and they released their sales numbers on their blog and Pharmaceuticals.com was the top sale. Pharmaceuticals gets 6600 exact searches a month according to the Google Keyplanner Tool.
CasinoDeals.com at $10,000 is a nice name that I think could do really good with all the affiliate programs for online casinos, combined with selling direct advertising to land based casinos all around the world.

My thoughts on $9 million Porno.com domain name sale - A mammoth domain name sale sends shock waves through the domain name business.
Rick Schwartz, aka the “Domain King”, has done it again.
As first reported by TheDomains yesterday, Schwartz sold the domain name Porno.com for $8,888,888.88.
Here are my thoughts on the sale.
1. First, a hat tip to Schwartz. He’s a polarizing figure, and you might not agree with everything he does or says. But this latest sale solidifies him in the halls of domaining. And, regardless of what you think of his antics, ... read more ...

27 End User Domain Name Sales - A weekly run-down of end user domain name sales at Sedo.
Sedo’s top reported sale last week was SuperSeats.com, which Michael Berkens sold for a staggering $48,888. Thoughts on yesterday’s $1 million domain name auction -
A strong auction with a headline-grabbing .club sale but dominated by .com.
By now you’ve probably read a bit about yesterday’s Right of the Dot domain name auction at NamesCon. Here are my takeaways:
1. The auction sold just shy of $1 million worth of domain names. It’s not the glory years of 7 or 8 years ago, but that’s a total I don’t think we’ve seen in a while at a domainer conference auction.
2. The sell-through rate of about 65% is excellent. ROTD ... read more ...
