Godaddy Dropping New gTLD Applications for .Home & .Casa - At the Godaddy new gTLD Registry Days event today it announced it would be withdrawing its applications for .home and .casa. We want to concentrate and be just a registrar for all new gTLD’s so we are withdrawing our applications for the new gTLD’s for .Home .Casa. Another big move by Godaddy.com but one which makes a lot of  sense for the company which doesn’t want to potentially go into an auction with companies it hopes to do business with as a registrar for other strings. The Go Daddy lick that keeps on giving - This year’s Go Daddy commercial may have been its most effective yet. One thing Go Daddy founder Bob Parsons figured out a long time ago, before GoDaddy.com was a household name, was that the 30 seconds you buy during a Super Bowl is only part of what you’re buying when you advertise in the big game. If the only time people see or hear about your advertisement is during that 30 seconds, you got ripped off. Parsons was the master of getting press before and after ... read more ...

Forget “The Kiss”: GoDaddy.co Super Bowl blurb was a genuine winner - YourBigIdea.co drove more business activity than Bar Rafaeli’s kiss. Go Daddy ran two commercials during the Super Bowl on Sunday. The one that’s getting the most media attention is Perfect Match — aka “The Kiss”, in which supermodel Bar Rafaeli kisses ubernerd Jesse Heiman. But is that commercial the one that resulted in a flood of business at Go Daddy on Sunday and the company having its biggest sales day ever on Monday? It turns out more credit should ... read more ...

Humorous Twitter review between Name.com and Go Daddy - Two domain registrars have fun with each other on Twitter. One thing Name.com does better than most (all?) domain name registrars is have a good social media presence. It has the right mix between humor, special offers, and support. Name.com also likes to take jabs at Go Daddy, like this parody Super Bowl commercial. So I found this Twitter conversation between @namedotcom and @godaddy rather humorous. (Note: this conversation is from before the Super Bowl.) I hope ... read more ...

Wow: a Bar Refaeli Go Daddy Super Bowl commercial - People will be talking about this commercial Monday morning. Wow. I have a feeling this commercial will be more talked about than many of Go Daddy’s previous Super Bowl commercials. That’s despite this ad not having any nudity or suggestions that you can “see more” if you go to GoDaddy.com. It’s got enough of that “ewww” factor and chock value that people will react to the commercial. I’ve got to wonder how much they paid Bar Refaeli for this one. ... read more ...

This time Canada wants to bury Go Daddy Super Bowl commercial - Government unhappy with alcohol in commercial. We’re used to the U.S. government “censoring” GoDaddy Super Bowl commercials. The intriguing GoDaddy .co Super Bowl blurb (with a Danica Patrick cameo) - GoDaddy.co Super Bowl commercial is very different from its predecessors. Last night .co tweeted a link to its Super Bowl commercial. I’ve watched it a few times (it’s embedded below) so I can fully grasp what’s going on. The basic idea makes sense: a lot of other people have your same idea for a web site. Go register it today. But from there I make these observations: 1. The ad doesn’t really promote .co that much. Sure, .co sits on the screen the whole time, ... read more ...
