.London, Has More Reserved Domains Than Registrations & You Won’t Believe What’s on The List - .London which launched last week has just over 39,00 domain name registration in the zone file as of today, which many regard to be less than impressive. The population of London’s metropolitan area is the largest in the EU with a total of 13,614,409. So out of over 13 Million residents not counting all the businesses and organization in the area, 39,o00 registrations isn’t that terrific in my opinion. Minds + Machines is operating the registry with active cooperation from the city. We got a ... read more ...

.London tighten to 35,000 domain registrations after initial day - .London shows solid numbers upon launch. The .London top level domain name launched with much fanfare yesterday. According to the DomainIncite Pro zone file reports, .London added 12,421 domain names to the zone file in the first partial day to reach 34,968. If you asked me a few months ago if .London reaching 35,000 on day one would be a strong number, I’d say yes. That said, I raised my expectations a bit after its very strong landrush period. Perhaps the landrush ... read more ...

.London ads speckled in London final week - Here are some ads for the .London domain name spotted in London during the ICANN conference. I spent last week in London at the ICANN meeting. This was interesting timing because the city is gearing up for the launch of .London, which should prove to be a strong new TLD. The open nature of the domain gives it a wider buying audience than .nyc (assuming .nyc is tough on nexus). As a geo domain, it will get a lot of local press. I think it’s possible that this domain ... read more ...

Dot London and Dot NYC holding dual opposite approaches - Dot NYC much more restricted than Dot London. Two .city domain names are getting ready to enter their first phase of rollout: .London and .NYC. This will be a big moment in the new top level domain name program. Despite being much smaller than London and New York City, .berlin has already captured close to 50,000 registrations (although many of those were given away for free). Dot ... read more ...
