Why Did Philip Morris Spend $1,500 To File A UDRP On Buying-Tax-Free-Marlboro-Cigarettes.com? - Philip Morris USA Inc, just won the rights to the domain name buying-tax-free-marlboro-cigarettes.com in a UDRP.
The fact that the corporate giant won the domain is no surprise, but I have no idea of why the company would spend $1,500 in just filing fees to get control of a horrible domain name with 4 hyphens.
According to Screenshots.com, the only page they have indexed is a placeholder from the registrar Godaddy.com
The domain had no traffic according to Alexa.

Now, new gTLDs--.florist, .gallery, .repair, .homes, .technology and more--are just as easy to register as .com. Each week I write at least one post about which end users bought domain names over the past week.
What do end users do with these domain names they buy on the aftermarket?
I was curious, so I went back to one of the weekly end user reports I published about six months ago. The report included 22 sales ranging from $1,000 to $25,000.
Six months later, here’s a breakdown of how the buyers are using the sites:

Why your new TLDs won’t work good with domain parking (yet) -
Domain parking ads don’t consider the full meaning of a domain name that spans the dot.
A couple weeks ago Donuts launched the .cash top level domain name.
This got me thinking about domain parking. I’ve owned a few .com domain names with the term “cash” in them. When they got clicks, they were high dollar clicks. There are lots of expensive Adwords terms related to cash.
So would traffic to something.cash monetize well?
No, not on the basis of the top level ... read more ...

As New gTLD Registrations Hit 2 Million Domains, Here Is Our Take On The New G’s - We have been talking about the new gTLD program for well over 6 years and over the weekend we noted that the number of new gTLD registrations passed the 2 Million mark.
So we thought this would be a good time to give some thoughts about where the program is at and where it is going.
Since we have been writing about the new G’s we have pretty much said the same thing, we don’t know how they will do or what effect they will have on the .com aftermarket.
