We Paid Six Figures For SexEducation.com & Its In The ROTD NamesCon Auction At No Reserve - We have placed the domain name SexEducation.com which we paid six figures for, into the RightoftheDot.com live/online domain name auction at the NamesCon conference at No Reserve.
The domain name has an Estibot value of $123,000.
It’s a domain we bought as we saw it as one of the only “adult’ type of domain names that you could advertise in mainstream media and would be great for one of the tapes, videos, books and DVD’s you see advertised all the time for “better sex”

Existing TLD .Reise headed to a auction block -
Top level domain name will be auctioned at the end of February.
Innovative Auctions Ltd., the same company handling many private new top level domain name contention set auctions, is holding an auction for .REISE on February 27.
What’s unique here is that .reise is an existing top level domain name that’s now available for purchase. I believe this is the second time Innovative Auctions has held auctions for already-released TLDs.
Reise roughly translates to “journey” ... read more ...

How Correctica done me demeanour smarter -
Service finds errors that spell and grammar checkers don’t.
When I write a post for Domain Name Wire, I act as researcher, writer and editor. That’s why you occasionally see a typo or two in articles. I review articles before posting, and always pay attention to that red squiggly underline indicating a misspelled word, but some types of errors are harder to catch.
That’s why I was intrigued to learn about Knowingly, a new company launched by futurist and former ... read more ...

Domain name registry Afilias dumps designed IPO -
Registry had planned to float in November.
Domain name registry Afilias has pulled plans for a $100 million initial public offering, as reported by Domain Incite this morning.
A company spokesperson told Domain Incite, “The final decision to cancel the IPO was based on market conditions at the time.”
Given that stock markets are at record highs, that’s a euphemism for “investors weren’t interested in our IPO”.
While stock markets are doing well, the same ... read more ...

Go Only for Big Bang gTLD Rebranding -
If you're considering rebranding under a new gTLD, go with a comprehensive big bang. A recent study by professors Dale Miller, Bill Merrilees, and Raisa Yakimova ("Corporate Rebranding: An Integrative Review of Major Enablers and Barriers to the Rebranding Process”) finds that success comes when senior management makes an unweaving commitment based on proactive analyses of the entire value-chain, with buy-in and input from employees and suppliers. Rebranding companies should not ignore the ... read more ...
Congress Will Oversight ICANN: And You Can Take That to the Bank -
Therefore, I wish to call for the establishment of such a new body that will work in cooperation with the NTIA to exercise supervisory responsibilities over ICANN.
Even though the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) plays a very important role in the global Internet ecosystem, its activities are not frequently mentioned in the mainstream international media; that is, until ICANN's name is mentioned alongside that of the US Congress in a US$1.1 trillion Omnibus spending ... read more ...
