Our Picks From The RickLatona.com TRAFFIC Auction - Well its that time again. We went through the 250+ domain in the Live RickLatona.com TRAFFIC auction and selected what we think are the most interesting and potentially best buys from the auction. We notice there are quite a few ccTLD’s in this auction, which as my readers know is not my thing, so I haven’t selected any of these.  Having said that XXX.us is certainly an interesting domain. There are several .ca domains and investors should be aware that Canada still has a presence requirement ... read more ...

DingBats.com Case Discusses Pool.com Lawsuit Over Domain Theft - Case sheds light on Pool.com lawsuit against former registrar partner. A National Arbitration Forum has awarded the domain name Dingbats.com to the complainant in a case against a Pool.com entity. What makes this case interesting is not that Dingbats is a generic term (don’t make me start writing in dingbats!), nor that the complainant bought the rights to a trademark for Dingbats for watches just recently, nor that the domain was originally owned by the previous ... read more ...

5 Domain Industry Questions to Be Answered in Next 72 Hours - This week’s TRAFFIC event will answer some questions. Well, I’m off to Vegas. I’m excited to attend the updated T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference. But unlike Ron, I’m not stoked about having two conferences back-to-back. Perhaps it’s because I live in the middle of the country (not coming from the East coast) and have a small child. Nonetheless, business is business. OK, and a bit of fun. For the next 72 hours, it’s all about TRAFFIC. Here are five questions ... read more ...

How is Beccary.com Worth Over $10K? At Auction @ Godaddy.com - We couldn’t help but notice the auction for the domain name Beccary.com, at Godaddy.com, which has a high bid of over $10K with almost 2 days to go. The domain has a valuation by Godaddy.com of less than $1K and although it get some traffic its not the enormous amount of traffic that would support such a high price. The domain did seem to be a popular site last year, but still its seems like a lot of cash to me. Google+Michael Berkens ... read more ...

Conference Overload Afflicts this Domainer - I thought it would never happen. I hate to admit it, but I have succumbed to a common illness called Conference Overload, or CO. I was in denial until this morning, when I logged on to print my boarding pass for the trip to TRAFFIC in Las Vegas tomorrow. The airline web site didn’t recognize my reservation. I called the airline to see what was going on. Then I noticed that I had booked travel for last week, not this week. That’s what happens when you book ... read more ...

Morality in Media Gives GoDaddy a Boost - Censorship organization asks parents to visit Go Daddy’s web site. Brilliant. Go Daddy made a name for itself with Super Bowl commercials. But it wasn’t just advertising in the big game that brought attention. The real value was in pre-Super Bowl coverage. At first it was “Hey look, here’s a ‘dot com’ company that is advertising in the Super Bowl after the tech bust”. Then it was all about the racy nature of its commercials.
