.XYZ Debuts on RegstrarStats.com As The 8th Most Registered Top Level Domain Extension -     .XYZ has become the 8th most registered Top Level Domain according to RegistrarStats.com. .XYZ domain registrations are only surpassed by .Com, .Net, .Org, .Info, .Biz, .US and .Mobi (actually .US is a ccTLD not a TLD) This is the first day I have seen .XYZ stats picked up by RegistrarStats.com which shows .XYZ picking up over 4,000 registrations and the only one of the now top 8 to pick up net registrations (of course .XYZ does not have deletions yet) Years before there was ntldstats.com, ... read more ...

I got my initial giveaway .XYZ domain name offer today - Network Solutions finally got around to offering me a free .xyz domain name. The .XYZ top level domain name continues to grow by thousands of registrations each day due to a Network Solutions giveaway. I got my first such free domain offer today. It’s interesting to see how the company handles the promotion. As you probably know by now, Network Solutions’ program is “opt out”, meaning the domain name is put in your account unless you specifically decline. Interestingly, ... read more ...

Free Domains Anyone? .Berlin Adds 70K Domains & Tops 116K; .XYZ Adds 27K & Tops 145K - A huge day in the new gTLD program as .Berlin in its first day of offering free domain names,  added some 70,000 domain names, more domains than were registered in the extension in the three months since .Berlin was launched. .Berlin passed .Club to become the 2nd most registered new domain extension (new gTLD). .Berlin which had been hanging around 48,000 registrations for weeks, shot up to 116,638 registered domains .Berlin launched around March 19 and got some 32,000 registrations in its first ... read more ...

.XYZ 1-ups .Berlin in giveaway domain giveaways - .Berlin more than doubles it registrations overnight. .XYZ calls. Starting yesterday, certain registrars started offering free .Berlin domain names to customers in a promotion that will run through the end of the work week. I posed the question if this promotion would enable .Berlin to overtake .xyz at the top of the top level domain charts. After one day it would seem the answer could be yes. But I forgot to consider another factor: .xyz could rev up its own free ... read more ...

The Removed ICA Post on XYZ: My Thoughts, What Mr. Corwin Has To Say, & The Missing Emails - Ron Jackson wrote two stories at DnJournal.com, over the weekend covering a post written by Phil Corwin, that post was published on Circle ID and on the ICA website on Friday entitled ICANN is MIA on .XYZ, and its subsequent removal on Saturday from the ICA website. I highly suggest if you haven’t done so you should read Mr. Corwin’s post on CircleID.com (along with the comments) and Ron’s summary of the post he wrote on Friday and the story he wrote yesterday on the removal of the post from ... read more ...

Not Counting NSI, .XYZ Is Still The Fastest Growing New gTLD According to Namestat.org - I had a long chat with Andrew Brier of Namestat.org about their service, the other day and one of the interesting things I learned it that .XYZ even throwing out all of the Network Solutions (NSI) free registrations, its still the fastest growing new gTLD. Several days ago we reported that NameStat.org removed all of NSI registrations for .XYZ from its stats based on the free giveaway promotion for purposes of computing the best selling domain list on the site as well as from the Fastest Growing ... read more ...

Is .xyz’s selling wrong, intelligent or both? - Inflated numbers will result in more mainstream press mentions. A lot has been written over the past couple weeks about .xyz and its so-called “sham” registrations. Network Solutions is giving away free .xyz domain names and is not even requiring account holders to affirm that they want the domain names. This is drastically inflating the number of registered .xyz domain names. As a result, .xyz is at the top of the new TLD charts. It has over 100,000 registrations. ... read more ...

Namestat Drops All Free .XYZ Domains & Schilling’s Registration Of Own Strings From Rankings - One of the two new sites that server up new gTLD stats, NameStat.org has made some changes to its ranking system for new gTLD registration. The service has dropped all free .XYZ domain names given out by Network Solutions (actually all Network Solution .XYZ registrations) and all Domain Names registered by Frank Schilling’s North Sound Names in extensions owned by Frank Schilling’s Uniregistry in computing its Best Selling gTLD list. NameStat.org is now showing .XYZ with just under 15,000 registrations ... read more ...

By a Numbers: .XYZ, .Reviews lead this week’s new TLD launches - .XYZ clocks in at over 10,000 registrations and results from eight other new TLD launches. I count nine new top level domain names that launched this week, as I previewed on Monday. The top domain in terms of registrations was .xyz, although I’m not sure what the actual number of true registrations is. Technically there are 67,504 in the zone file…but most of these were given away free to Network Solutions customers who didn’t ask for them. Still, I believe ... read more ...

.XYZ Moves Into 4th Most Registered New gTLD Topping 38K But 72% Are From NetSol - Ntldstats.com, has updated this morning and .XYZ is now the 4th most popular gTLD with over 38,000 registrations. However over 72% of these, or over 27,500 domains are at Network Solutions (NSI), which as we discussed yesterday and today, offered free .XYZ domains to certain customers on an opt out basis, meaning that many of these customers may not even know they have an .XYZ domain. If we back out the NSI registrations .XYZ still had over 11,000 registrations in its first 24 hours or so more than ... read more ...

Network Solutions Has No Idea What we am articulate about – UPDATED WITH PROOF OF EMAIL - So there was a lot of talk about Network Solutions and .XYZ yesterday. We had a comment in one thread which led to Michael doing a follow up post and mentioning that specific comment. The comment was : “I recently got the email from Netsol offering me a complementary .xyz for my so-so .com free for 1 year. and in order to decline such an offer I had to visit a link and click decline, otherwise the domain would be mine automatically.” So I called Web.com who owns Network Solutions and Register.com. ... read more ...

Did NetworkSolutions.com Give Away Free .XYZ Domain Names? -         I published a post earlier today about .XYZ registering over 18,000 domain names in its first day of General Availability based on  ntldstats.com, which is what we rely on consistently for our registration numbers. At the time we did point out that over 50% of all registrations were made at NetworkSolutions.com which was quite unusual, since that registrar has only 8% of the new gTLD market overall, including the 9K+ .XYZ registrations. Obviously this seemed strange to me since NetSol’s ... read more ...

.XYZ Gets Almost 18,000 Registrations On Day 1 of General Availability -         .XYZ the new gTLD which bills itself as the new .Com, had a very good 1st day of general availability (GA) winding up with almost 18,000 registrations. According to ntldstats.com, .XYZ has 17,800 domains registered putting it in 11 place after the first day of GA. Interestingly NetworkSolutions.com has over 50% of the registrar market for .XYZ with over 9,000 of the registrations while Godaddy got just over 20% of the .XYZ market. The third biggest registrar for .XYZ is the registry ... read more ...

Best Deal for .XYZ Registrations looks to be during Uniregistry - So far no official numbers on the first day GA registrations for .XYZ.  I have been chatting with Andy from Namestat.org and he said the same. Andy told me,  “Nope, no zone file today, no-one has the figures. Total guess but I suspect they had a very good first 8 hours;) It does look like comedian Kevin Hart regged KevinHart.xyz and KevinHartNation.xyz Ntldstats.com is showing 3,264 registrations but they also tweeted me that the numbers are not final. “As we collect data from more sources ... read more ...

.XYZ section record nears 15,000, 30k after 24 hours - Nearly 15,000 domains in zone file and over half of them are at NetworkSolutions. 30,000+ domains registered after 24 hours. The latest batch of zone files has been published, and .xyz had what looks to be a good first day. The zone file includes nearly 15,000 domain names after the initial hours of launch. Zone files only include registered domains that have nameservers, so it usually undercounts domains by a bit. .XYZ’s Daniel Negari told Domain Name Wire that ... read more ...

New TLDs on daub this week: .XYZ, .Futbol, .Dating and more - .XYZ joins the fray this week. A bunch of new top level domain names hit the market this week, especially on Wednesday. Monday It all starts today with the launch of .xyz. Daniel Negari is launching this generic domain and has set aggressive goals: 1 million registrations in the first year and five million in three years. You might think he’s crazy. Maybe he is. Yet I admire the passion and energy he’s putting in to it, and that’s a good thing for the domain’s ... read more ...

An critical doctrine in pre-ordering new tip turn domain names - Hint: don’t count on just one registrar. Registering domain names under new TLDs when they hit the market is similar to dropcatching expired domain names. From the registrar’s perspective, it involves prioritizing domains and hitting pinging the registry as quickly as possible. Some registrars are better than others at this. There’s some general know-how involved, plus a lot of technology. Registrars will also perform differently with different registries based ... read more ...

No Justin Bieber bashing in new .xyz domain name - Be careful what content you post at JustBieberDruggie.xyz. The .XYZ top level domain name has published its launch policies, and it includes perhaps the most off-the-wall restriction of any new TLD to date: No Bieber-bashing. Oprah, too. Page 22 of the policy states that abusive and forbidden uses of .xyz names include: “illegal malicious and fraudulent defamation of Oprah Winfrey, Daniel Negari, or Justin Bieber” Depending on how you look at generational dates, ... read more ...

Watch Name.com and .xyz conflict in bobsled competition - Jared Ewy and Daniel Negari fly around the track in friendly wager. I see a lot of marketing gimmicks for domain names, but rarely write about them. This bobsledding competition (and sponsorship) involving .xyz is entertaining enough to pass along. Here’s the background: In addition to being CEO of .Kiwi, Tim Johnson is also the manager of the New Zealand bobsled team. Deals.XYZ Sells For $8,100 On NameJet.com - In a Namejet.com auction which just closed today the domain name Deals.xyz just sold for $8,100. The price marks the highest amount paid for a .xyz domain name, a new gTLD extension which hasn’t even been delegated yet. If should be noted that the application fee for .XYZ was $185,000 so this one domain name repays the registry 4% of the application fee. We have already heard of aftermarket sales of recently released new gTLD domain names, but this has to be a record for a new gTLD prior to delegation Congrats ... read more ...

Daniel Negari Lays Out His Vision For .XYZ & Chats About The Controversial NameJet.com Auctions -     While at was at ICANN chatting with Applicants and others in the domain space the question I found myself being asked the most was about .XYZ. .XYZ has been very aggressive pushed the envelope when it became the first to auction off new gTLD domains names through Namejet.com So I reached out to Daniel Negari whose company is going to operate the .XYZ extension (and .College too)  to see what his vision for the extension is, what’s up wit the Namejet.com auctions  and what the hell he was ... read more ...
