Donuts: .Com Is Like A Department Store, We are Building An Entire Shopping Mall - Clickz.com, , just published an interview with Jon Nevett one of the founders of Donuts and Mason Cole their VP of Communications and I found a few very interesting quotes.
Jon Nevett is quoted as saying “At a high level the existing name space is overused and worn out. As new businesses start up, they can’t find what they want in the existing name space so they end up with a crazy mix of consonants and vowels because that’s all that’s available in dot com. So they end up with newyork35avepizza.com ... read more ...

One applicant for .cars has good questions about how exactly it can resolve its contention set.
DERcars, an applicant for the .cars top level domain name, has filed a reconsideration request (pdf) with ICANN’s board after Google won a string confusion objection against the company’s .cars application.

Donuts To Start Sunrise Period For 9 New gTLD’s On Oct 29th -
This is a great discussion. My day job got in the way this week which is why it took a while for me to get back to this interesting (at least to me) thread.
I agree at least a bit with all of you
I believe that:
1) A registrant with a .com will not give up that .com and move to a new TLD, but also there are currently millions of registrants that give up a .com every year nevertheless. Those deletes are currently replaced with other .com registrations, and I believe a portion of those new ... read more ...

Are These The 107 New gTLD Extensions Donuts Partnered With Demand Media On? - Donuts.co which applied for 307 new gTLD strings has stated all along that they were in partnership with Demand Media (DMD) on 107 of the applications.
However I do not think Donuts or Demand have publicly stated which of the 107 new gTLD’s that Donuts applied for that they are in a partnership with Demand Media on.
Looking through some new gTLD applications today I found that 107 applications are now held by a parent company called Covered TLD, LLC (Covered Donuts) and another 201 are held by ... read more ...

Seattle is home to a large (and growing) number of domain name companies.Last month I took my annual family “escape the Texas heat” vacation to Seattle.
