ICANN: Our Top 3 Policy Priorities for 2015 -
2014 was a big year for us and for our clients. The new gTLD program forced us to rethink, reprioritize and implement new and different strategies to protect our brands online. The uncertainty largely behind us, and with more information at our fingertips about just how well (or not) brands are faring in the new environment, it's time to look forward to what we can do in 2015 to fix what's broken, throw away what's useless, fight for what's important and generally continue to try and make navigating ... read more ...

What does 2015 have in store for online businesses? -
2014 was the year of the domain, with new domain name extensions becoming available for the first time. The new gTLDs (top-level domains, like .com, .net or .org) created new online real estate. Location extensions such as .London and .NYC, and more general names – like .Photography and .Expert – changed the web forever, and made it easier for businesses to find a place online to call home. But what are the key trends set to shape 2015, and what do the next twelve months have in store for those ... read more ...

Apple'ın ilk saatinin 1995'te, önümüzdeki Mart ayında piyasaya sürülmesi beklenen Apple Watch'tan 20 sene önce ortaya çıktığını biliyor muydunuz?
TLD YouTube kanalının bizlere hatırlattığı Apple saati, Macintosh System 7.5'e yükseltenlere ücretsiz olarak veriliyor, tek başına satılmıyordu. Saat, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi gibi özelliklere elbette sahip değildi, dolayısıyla akıllı telefonlarla eşitlenme, dokunmatik ekran ... read more ...
New TLD association Architelos sued after melancholy IP Law Firm - Architelos sent cease and desist letter to intellectual property law firm, with a predictable result.
What happens when you send a cease desist letter alleging trademark infringement to an intellectual property law firm? You get sued.
That’s what happened after new top level domain name services company Architelos sent a CD to California-based Cotman IP this month.
DeSantis Law Firm, which represents Architelos, sent the CD (pdf) to Cotman IP earlier this month, claiming Cotman was infringing ... read more ...
SelfieSticks.com sells for $29,100 and some-more lapsed domain name sales - Joseph Peterson runs down the latest expired domain name sales at NameJet.
If you’re as un-with-it as uncool me, then you’ll look at the $29.1k high bid for SelfieSticks.com and say, “Huh?” Apparently, selfie sticks are rods that attach to a camera phone so that you can hold it far enough away to take a picture of yourself and the grinning people next to you. Asking a stranger to snap a photo please wasn’t that onerous, was it? Trends move fast. Already the market for these devices generated a ... read more ...

Over 75% of All Top-Level Domains (TLDs) Now Signed With DNSSEC -
As I was entering in data for the weekly DNSSEC Deployment Maps, I was struck by the fact that we are now at the point where 617 of the 795 top-level domains (TLDs) are now signed with DNSSEC.
You can see this easily at Rick Lamb's DNSSEC statistics site:
This represents 77% of all current TLDs!
Now, granted, most of that amazing growth in the chart is because all of the "new generic TLDs" (newgTLDs) are required to be signed with DNSSEC, but we are still seeing solid growth around the ... read more ...

My Opinion: Donuts Is Not Helping Itself By Attacking .Com - Raymond Hackney just published a story on the Thedomains.com based on a blog post published on Donuts.co corporate site, which you can read here.
I have written about Donuts attacking .Com to sell their own new gTLD’s before and even discussed it in our 2014 year recap.
I think its a bad move.
First of all its false.
In 2014 .Com grew by some 3.3 million domains which is slightly less than the total number of new gTLD registration but is more than the number of paid third party new gTLD registrations.

Why, Even After A Year, There’s Still No Land Grab For New Internet Domains -
It’s been nearly a year since a whole set of spanking new Internet domain names first came to market. These names —which in technical circles are called “generic top-level domains” or gTLDs — were just becoming available in January 2014, when a regulatory change opened the door to these fresh extensions — snazzy end-tags like .apple, .guru, .pizza, .bike, and .singles — which were added to the familiar existing domain suffixes — like .com, .net, .org, and .edu. At that ... read more ...

Domain Check, of course, provides status information related to ICM’s own top level domain names. But it also checks the domain name across many TLDs, providing launch phase and registration status.

Donuts ” after such a long run, it’s about time to hand .COM a gold watch” -
Donuts posted a blog post yesterday about looking to the future and that .com is that old stodgy utility that is staid but it is unremarkable. Yet Microsoft had plenty of options for example to register Hololens.newgtld but they still paid to buy the .com and handregister the .us. The article is worth a read, especially for those all in with the new gtlds. The leave a comment link does nothing and there is no possibility to leave a comment on the post. I believe that .com will lead the future ... read more ...

Braintree now lets all U.S. merchants accept Bitcoin -
Braintree will now make it possible for all merchants in the U.S. to accept Bitcoin. Venture Beat is out with an article that Braintree after making partnerships earlies in the year with Coinbase and Pay Pal will make it possible for all merchants in the U.S. to accept Bitcoin. I guess for those not that savvy when it comes to Bitcoin but still want to seem modern and cool, this will be an attractive feature.
