TrafficZ shuts down on Wednesday - End of an era: TrafficZ to shut its doors on Wednesday. Thought Convergence sold off its primary operating businesses this year: it sold Agreed to Escrow.com and Aftermarket.com to Igloo. That left domain name parking company TrafficZ. NamesCon Session: “All About Chinese Numeric Domains” - I have not sold many numeric domain names, but I have witnessed the rise in values of numeric domain names during the last few years. Mitch Watkins from TLD Registry emailed me this afternoon to share some information about the Chinese Domaining Masterclass that is being offered at NamesCon. One of the sessions that was just announced is called All About Chinese Numeric Domains, ... read more ...

Google’s Local Search Algorithm Is Rolling Out To UK, Canada, And Australia - Matt Southern wrote a piece on Search Engine Journal that Google will be expanding its local search to the UK,Canada and Australia. Back in August Search Engine Land called the local search update the Pigeon, Understanding the Pigeon Update At this time, Pigeon seems to only impact local search queries made in English within the United States. At first sight, Pigeon seems to give preference to local businesses over local brands. This is actually good news for small business owners who have a local, ... read more ...

V-V-V-Voom! and Not Much Else (Expired Domain Report) - Hi, Paul There are always competing factors to balance. In this case, I think GoDaddy is putting too much weight on a few people who complain and neglecting both the silent majority and the larger, long-term indirect benefits to the industry as a whole — which aren’t based on the misplaced anxieties of a few customers. That’s a matter of opinion, but I hope it will be debated. Did GoDaddy undertake any industry surveys before deciding to change its policy unilaterally? From my vantage point, ... read more ...

Merry Christmas Trademark Holders: 15 Year Old DirectorsChoice.com Lost In UDRP - Director’s Choice, LLP just won is a UDRP for the domain name directorschoice.com We read through the complaint the other day thought is was a no-brainier win for the domain holder, but as the opinion lays out it seems the three member panel thought it was a no-brainier win for the Trademark Holder.
