Afternic Sells $1.3MM In Domains Names Led By LawHelp.com For $85K - Afternic.com just published its report of domain name sales totalling $1,265,707 for the week of 2/25/13 – 3/3/13. The publicly reportable sales were led by LawHelp.com at $85,000, and followed by Racing.ca for $39,200.
RacingStuff.com also sold for $18,000. Based on the name servers, transaction date, and Canadian registrant there’s a good chance the purchase was related to the Racing.ca transaction.

Sedo.com Sells Over $1.35MM In Domains Led By WeddingInsurance.com for $50K - Sedo.com just announced its sales data for the week ending March 4th, 2013. In all over $1.35MM domains were sold. The top seller was WeddingInsurance.com at $50,000 as previously reported by us, followed by Wholesale.co.uk for $30,000.
In all, 842 transactions took place on Sedo’s marketplace and via SedoMLS.

Two More New gTLD Applications Withdrawn: .HEINZ & .KETCHUP - ICANN just posted on its site the withdrawal of two more new gTLD applications bring the total of withdrawn applications to 21.
ProMark Brands Inc. withdrew the only two new gTLD applications it had for .HEINZ .KETCHUP.
.KETCHUP had a Prioritization number of 737, and HEINZ had a Prioritization of 1345.

Go Daddy founder Bob Parsons is one of the 1,000 richest people in the world according to Forbes’ recently released Billionaires list.
Parsons is tied for #974 with an estimated wealth of $1.5 billion. That’s good enough for a rank of #328 in the United States.

NiceCar.com For Sale For $100,000 Hit With UDRP - The domain name NiceCar.com was just hit with a UDRP
While the domain seems very generic to me, NICE CAR, INC. of Fort Collins, Colorado has a trademark which was filed on May 24, 2005 but not granted until February 6, 2007.
Having said that we have often noted that almost every word, saying, expression and two and three letter combination has a trademark on it somewhere
The domain name has a registration date of August 2000.

Rules mandate practices to protect domain name registrants.
The new “Expired Registration Recovery Policy” (ERRP) goes into effect August 31.
This policy sets guidelines for how registrars treat expired domain names and how they must notify customers that their domains are expiring.
Most notably, the rules will require expiration notices be sent at particular intervals and mandate that DNS resolution be interrupted after expiration.

BankRate.com Buys CardOffers.com & Spends $34 Million On Domains & TM’s In 2012 - Bankrate.com (RATE) spent almost $34 Million Dollars on Domain names and trademarks in 2012.
One of the 2012 acquisitions appears to be the large lead generation site, CardOffers.com which was purchased sometime in October 2012.
Bankrate.com applied for a trademark on Cardoffers.com in October, 2012.
The domain is currently showing as LinkOffers.com as the owner of the domain.
In December 2012, the registered owner Linkoffers.com went into privacy at Godaddy.com
