SnapNames throws shawl into domain morning and landrush auction ring - KeyDrive companies want to play a role in new TLD rollout. SnapNames and Moniker have announced they will support sunrise and landrush auctions for new top level domain registries. The company will, of course, also offer premium generic sales and auctions for registry withheld domain names. I’ve been told by a newish TLD registry (I think I just coined a term) in the past that Pool.com is really the only service that meets the unique needs of a sunrise auction. ... read more ...

The inside story of Mama.com - Mamma.com owner selling Mama.com. I was originally a bit surprised to see mama.com in Moniker’s Spring Auction ending this week. Then I realized the domain on auction is actually a typo of the once popular search engine Mamma.com — not the search engine itself. Well, sort of a typo, as I later found out. I reached out to the founder of Mama.com owner Empresario, Omar Solis. As it turns out, his company bought the Mamma.com search engine in a deal completed in ... read more ...

Settlement with Nelson Brady Saves Oversee.net from Legal Hassles - Brady requested a number of documents related to Oversee.net’s operations. As far as lawsuits go, Oversee.net’s suit against former employee and shill bidder Nelson Brady was somewhat unique. After all, you had someone who admitted much of the wrongdoing that was alleged. Yet getting money out of Brady wasn’t going to be easy for Oversee.net. Brady was going to make Oversee jump through some hoops. For example, Brady subpoenaed Bank of America for “all ... read more ...

I originally reported 29 domains sold.] Moniker’s .us domain name auction sold 29 30 of 86 domain names, or 35%. That’s a much stronger showing than recent online auctions held by the company. DOMAINfest Extended Auction Bombs - Extended auction fails to live up to success of live auction. Last week DOMAINfest had a successful live domain name auction. Unfortunately, the extended auction didn’t perform too well. Only 8 out of 797 domain names sold, or a sell through rate of only 1%. It’s disappointing, but I’m not terribly surprised.
