Go Daddy’s Patent Portfolio Could Be Big Draw in Sale - Company holds patents in e-commerce, domain registration, and internet spaces. I’ve written numerous times about Go Daddy’s patent applications. It seems like each time people chastise the company for filing its patents. But the company’s patent portfolio (and patent applications) could be a big part of the company’s value if it chooses to sell. The company has 24 approved patents under the Go Daddy name, ranging from humdingers such as “Systems and methods ... read more ...

Go Daddy Gets Jillian Michaels as New Go Daddy Girl - Forget talk about selling the company. Here’s more important news from Go Daddy. Is Bob Parsons selling Go Daddy? Who knows. The company added to its stable of Go Daddy Girls today, picking up fitness super trainer Jillian Michaels. Michaels is famous for her role on “The Biggest Loser”. In two tweets this morning, Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons wrote: “Jillian ... read more ...

A Look during Go Daddy’s Growth (in Numbers) - An official look at Go Daddy’s revenue numbers. I still remember a conversation just before the Super Bowl in 2005. I was eating lunch with a bunch of techies and the topic of Super Bowl commercials came up. Someone asked “who is this Go Daddy company, anyway?” Flash forward to 2010. If you ask someone on the street where they would go to register a domain name, they’ll likely say “Go Daddy”. About half of all newly-registered domains are registered ... read more ...

HostExploit Exploits Demand Media’s IPO Filing - HostExploit report generates more questions than answers. I just finished reading HostExploit’s report about Demand Media and its domain name registration business (eNom). Whenever I read a report like this, I try to think about the motives of the report’s authors. In this case, it’s clear that HostExploit wanted to rush something out to piggyback on the buzz of Demand Media’s S-1 filing to go public. When I see punctuation errors in a research report, ... read more ...
