Are 35 Million Domains/Sites Hosted On Godaddy.com Down? -
According to DailyChanges.com there are almost 34 million domain names are hosted on Godaddy’s DomainControl.com servers which appear to be down.
In addition another 1.2 million are hosted on Godaddy’s CashParking.com servers which also appear to be down.
I did a spot check of domains and sites located on both servers and all appeared to be down.
As Godaddy.com outage continues it looks like between domain, site hosting and email hosting up to 35 million domains could be affected.

GoDaddy.com and access to millions of sites finally being restored.
With domain name registrar Go Daddy and millions of sites down today, clicking on a Google search result was a bit like playing roulette: you might get a blank result.
A Go Daddy spokesperson told me the problems began around 10 am PDT today. I was in a meeting at the time, and saw a tweet from Go Daddy about site problems. I clicked over to GoDaddy.com and it didn’t resolve.

Google Apps creates .co an choice (and promotes it) -
.co front and center with the big three on Google Apps.
Google Apps has added .co as a registration option when you open a new account.
Given that you can currently register 27 different top level domains with Google Apps, that’s not big news by itself.
But much like with many of the top domain name registrars, .co has managed to get Google to promote it.

Romney-Ryan domain names snapped adult in a hurry -
Republican ticket follows patterns for domain name registration.
Whenever there’s a big political announcement we tend to see people register related domain names.
Mitt Romney’s announcement of Paul Ryan as his running mate is one example.
Since June 2012, Go Daddy says more than 1,600 domain names were registered with the registrar containing Mitt Romney and or Paul Ryan.

Go Daddy acquires Outright. More to come?
Go Daddy today announced the acquisition of Outright, a provider of online financial software for small businesses.
This is only the company’s third acquisition in its history, and the first one that involves bringing over people from the acquired business. (It’s previous acquisitions were a technology acquisition for a root certificate and taking over the RegisterFly customer database when that registrar lost its accreditation.)

New security option available to customers with a U.S. mobile phone number.
GoDaddy.com has added two factor authentication capabilities for U.S. customers. The feature appears to have been added within the past couple days.

30%-50% Of All Domain Registrations Are Through Resellers & Enom Has 8,000 of Them - A few interesting facts coming out of the afternoon ICANN session entitled; “Briefing for GAC on Domain Name Marketplace”
Jeff Eckhaus of Demand Media which owns Enom.com, speaking to the Governmental Advisory Council, (GAC) said that Enom has 8,000 resellers itself and he thought that on a volume of registrations, the percentage of domain names registered by resellers was “somewhere between 30 and 50%”

Go Daddy is proposing a couple twists in its plan to offer .home and .casa domain names to the public.
A big one: registrations as short as one month.
“Why pay for a year if the domain name will not be needed for a year?”, the company asks in its application.

Demand Media’s 26 TLDs strike a armed forces, democrats, and republicans -
Demand Media applies for 26 domain names — and some of them are very interesting.
Publicly traded Demand Media, parent company of domain registrar eNom, has applied for 26 top level domain names through (what appears to be) a subsidiary called United TLD Holdco Ltd.
The company also has a deal to share in up to 107 top level domains applied for by Donuts, Inc.

Company taps Deutsch to shift its image and advertising.
For the first time since 2005, Go Daddy has hired an outside ad agency to manage its advertising.
The company will formally announce tomorrow that it hired the New York office of ad agency Deutsch Inc.
Deutsch’s first public work for the company will be its ads during the Olympics on NBC.

Google has just introduced a speedier way to verify your domain ownership for use with certain Google tools.

Go Daddy applies for .home, .casa, and .godaddy top level domains.
Domain name registrar Go Daddy has applied for the .home and .casa top level domains, CEO Warren Adelman disclosed to Domain Name Wire. These two domains are in addition to .GoDaddy.
