Breaking: Donuts Passes ICANN Initial Evaluation For New gTLD’s - Donuts the largest applicant for new gTLD program has passed the Initial Evaluation of ICANN new gTLD program. Donuts applied for 307 new gTLD domain names including the IDN for the string: 商店 This is the first new gTLD application filed by Donuts to be evaluated by ICANN. As part of the initial evaluation, ICANN had to determine if each applicant has meet all the requirements to operate a new gTLD. CORRECTION: Famous Four Did Not File Any Objections To .Music or .Song - Earlier today we incorrectly reported that Famous Four filed an objection to  the other 7 applicants for the .Music gTLD’s and to the .Song new gTLD filed by Amazon. Famous Four did not file the objections. The Objection were filed by DotMusic Limited a company whois is affiliated to Constantine Roussos which is another applicant for .Music Famous Four whose application for .Music is under dot Music Limited did not object to any of the new gTLD application for .Music or .for the new gTLD application ... read more ...

4 More New gTLD Applications Withdraw Making It An Even 30 - Four more new gTLD application have been withdrawn, reflected on ICANN’s website bringing the number of withdrawn applications to an even 30. The newly withdrawn applications are for .GDN; .OVERHEIDNL; .GUARDIANMEDIA and .SVR All but .Overheidnl seem to be Brand applications. As initial evaluations (IE) from ICANN are due out any day, we many see a rush of withdrawals as applicants at this point get 70% of their application fee refunded, IE’s are issued the refund drops to 35%. 10 New Objections Filed: Google & Donuts Get Hit On Goo: .Coach - 10 new Legal Rights Objections to gTLD applications have been filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),  hitting Google and Donuts among others. Breaking: More Verisign Objections: .Network, .Company & .Vet - Although none of Verisign’s objections have been posted officially,  TheDomains.com has learned that Verisign, the company that runs the .com and .net registry has filed additional objections based on “confusion to” .com and .net”. According to our sources, Verisign which we reported the other day objected to .Cam .Bom, now has also objected to .Network, .Company and .Vet. Breaking:Verisign Files Objections To New gTLD Apps .Cam & .Bom: Confusing To .Com - TheDomains.com has learned that Verisign (VRSN)  the company that operates the .Com registry  has filed objections to the new gTLD application of .Cam and .Bom,  claiming that they are confusingly similar to .Com. None of the objections are posted on the websites of the providers who will be administering the objections but the applicants have been notified of the objections. One of The Applicant For .Med Withdraws Its New gTLD Application - One of the applicants for .Med has withdrawn their new gTLD application with ICANN DocCheck AG withdrew its application just a couple of days after the ICANN Independent Objector, posted it objection to the application. There are still more .Med applications including one filed by Google. ICANN’s Independent Objector Files Objections To 24 New gTLD Applications - On 12 March 2013, the Independent Objector (IO) lodged 24 objections against new applied-for gTLDs before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The 24 objections were on 13 separate strings, three for .Amazon including 2 IDN’s; .Charity; .Med; .Health,; .Healthcare; .Hospital; .Indians; .Patagonia; .Medical. ICANN Denies Financial Assistance For 2 New gTLD’s & Their Applications Fail - Two new gTLD applications have been rejected by ICANN that were submitted under the SARP financial Assistance program after ICANN decided that they did not meet the criteria for financial assistance. The new gTLD applications were for;  .IDN submitted by NameShop and .UMMAH which was applied for by Ummah Digital. Another Brand New gTLD Drops Out as .Olympus Withdraws it’s Application - Olympus Corporation has become the latest company to withdraw it new gTLD application for its .brand application .Olympus which had a Prioritization number of  1,861. .Olympus becomes the 22nd new gTLD application to be withdrawn not including the withdrawal of .home and .casa which it announced this week by Godaddy.com, which is not yet reflected on ICANN’s site. Godaddy Dropping New gTLD Applications for .Home & .Casa - At the Godaddy new gTLD Registry Days event today it announced it would be withdrawing its applications for .home and .casa. We want to concentrate and be just a registrar for all new gTLD’s so we are withdrawing our applications for the new gTLD’s for .Home .Casa. Another big move by Godaddy.com but one which makes a lot of  sense for the company which doesn’t want to potentially go into an auction with companies it hopes to do business with as a registrar for other strings. Two More New gTLD Applications Withdrawn: .HEINZ & .KETCHUP - ICANN just posted on its site the withdrawal of two more new gTLD applications bring the total of withdrawn applications to 21. ProMark Brands Inc. withdrew the only two new gTLD applications it had for .HEINZ .KETCHUP. .KETCHUP had a Prioritization number of 737, and HEINZ had a Prioritization of 1345.
