New gTLD .Miami Gets Almost 5,000 Registrations After It's 1st Day Of Availability - The new domain name extension .Miami , which had it’s first day of General Availability yesterday, where it could be registered on a first come, first served basis got almost 5K registration including around 200 in Sunrise.
According to ntldstats.com, .Miami had 4,959 domain names in the zone after its full day of GA.
The Godaddy family of registrars, dominated the top 10 of domain registrars of .Miami taking 8 out of the top 10 spots and getting over 55% of all .Miami registrations.

Here are Some .NYC Collision Domains That Won't Be Available To Be Registered Next Week - .NYC updated it’s list of domain names it will be releasing from the collision list next week.
The collision domains will be release on 8 October 2015, these domains are being offered on a first come first served basis at normal registration fees with no premium renewal fees.
There will be no auctions other than possibly at the registrar level for these domain name.

ICANN Releases Results of Its 1st Global Registrant Survey - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) published the findings of its first Global Registrant Survey, which was conducted on its behalf by Nielsen.

Amazon Turns On AmazonRegistry.com To Sell New gTLD Domain Names -
Amazon applied for 76 new generic top-level domain names (gTLD’s).
When Amazon applied for their new gTLD’s they applied to operate them on a closed basis meaning the public would not be able to register any domain names without Amazon allocating them, but the Governmental Advisory Council (GAC) to ICANN nixed the plan for the most part, while still allowing .Brand Applications.

According to RegistrarStats.com .Top now has over 362,000 domains registered moving past .Science and is now only 2nd to .XYZ as the top registered new gTLD domain name extensions.

My Most Ridiculous Domain Pricing Award In The New gTLD Space Goes To Mind & Machines - I just got a renewal bill from my registrar, Hexonet on some Minds + Machines domain names I registered last year at normal registration prices.
I have spent well into the six figures on new gTLD’s, so I put my money at risk all the time in the very speculative new gTLD space.
In this case there was an issue with the pricing sent over by the registry Minds + Machines to my registrar, Hexonet.
Along the way in the registration process the retail price got screwed.

I realized that a couple of other strings launched in the last couple of weeks that basically went unnoticed by the domain blogger community.

Minds + Machines Finds Operating New gTLD Much Less Profitable Than Selling Apps: Swing To a Loss - Minds + Machines Group Ltd (LON:MMX) reported today the company’s financial results for the 1st half of 2015.
Minds + Machines swung to a pretax loss for the first half of 2015 “due to it seeing a lower gain from participating in generic top-level domain auctions”
Minds + Machines reported a pretax loss of $3.7 million for the half year to ending June 30th, from a pretax profit of $4.9 million, “mostly as a result of lower profit from participating in generic top-level domain auctions”.

.XYZ Is Back Over 900,000 Registrations & Netsol Regs Once As High as 85% Are Under 15% - The new gTLD is back over the 900,000 domain mark in the zone file.
The first time the .XYZ new gTLD crossed the 900,000 domain registration mark was in May of 2015. At that time the percentage .XYZ domain names registered at NetworkSolutons.com was over 41%

Donuts Gets At Least 20 Two Letter Domain Registrations On Day 1 Of EAP For adult To $12,500 Each - Donuts released over 200,000 two character domain names across all of its extensions in its Early Access Program (EAP) and we counted at least 20 registrations, on Day 1 although we are sure there are more.
The domains that were registered on day 1 ranged IMHO to great domains well with the money to domains I wouldn’t have registered in General Availability.

Google Registers Alphabet.Sex in Sunrise: How Did They Do That? + More Generic's Reg As TM - Google has added another domain name to its growing Alphabet brand, this time Alphabet.sex which got registered yesterday.
But Google registering another Alphabet domain name is not the story.
The issue is how did Google get that domain name registered in Sunrise when to register a domain name in any new gTLD Sunrise period the registrant has to have a registered trademark for the term and then apply to the Trademark Clearinghouse before being able to register a new gTLD domain in the Sunrise period.
