This exact comment period concerns those registries including Donuts that asked ICANN to allow these two charterer domains to be registered
“In total, the requests concern 148 New gTLDs.”
Of course this is the first request ICANN has gotten on allowing registration (and thereby sale) of Two Character New gTLD Domains ... read more ...

I had a long chat with Andrew Brier of Namestat.org about their service, the other day and one of the interesting things I learned it that .XYZ even throwing out all of the Network Solutions (NSI) free registrations, its still the fastest growing new gTLD.
Several days ago we reported that NameStat.org removed all of NSI registrations for .XYZ from its stats based on the free giveaway promotion for purposes of computing the best selling domain list on the site as well as from the Fastest Growing ... read more ...

Network Solutions Promotion For .Events; 2 of 3 Featured Domains Are Reserved and NA - NetworkSolutions.com has done it again.
A new promotion going out to all of their customers is marketing the new gTLD .events. The promotion features three domains, two of which are reserved by the registry thereby not available.
We have written about this issue before. If registrars are going to email their customers to get them to register, or pre-register a new gTLD domain by highlighting three domain names they should at least make sure the domains are actually available to be registered ... read more ...

.Trade followed close behind with 3,235 while .Bid managed to get just 629 registrations.

Two “Premium Domain” New gTLD Auctions Start; Namejet For .Build; Sedo for .Bid - I see a couple of “premium” domain name auctions are starting this week one at Namejet.com and one at Sedo for the new gTLD extensions .Build and .Bid respectively
At Namejet.com they are auctioning off 35 .Build Domains.
I have to say I don’t get these.
Many of the terms make sense but they are backwards. Many of these domain would be good domains, except that the terms starts with Build, not end with Build so selfconfidence.build doesn’t make that much sense as the proper term using in ... read more ...

GeekWire “Buying A New gTLD The Process Really .Sucks” - Kevin Lisota is not a domain investor, instead he is CEO Co-Founder of findwell, a Seattle real estate startup. He wrote a very good article for Geekwire that shows the frustation for many when trying to research and purchase new gtlds.
From the article:
Up until this year, buying a domain name was pretty straightforward. With one or two accounts at registrars like GoDaddy or namecheap, you could buy just about any domain extension. Transferring domain names was also relatively easy.

All three new gTLD’s are priced at $39.95 at Godaddy and are of course available at a ton of registrars.

My Preorder For Cool.Vegas Just Got A $35,525 Bill & CoolVegas.com Is Priced during $12K - I placed a pre-order for the domain name Cool.Vegas on a landrush basis with 101domain.com a while back.
I got word the other day that the domain name was placed on the reserved list of the registry and made a premium domain.
So I got a bill for the difference between what I previously paid for the pre-order $234.99 and the new premium price for the domain name of $35,760.00

.XYZ Moves Into 4th Most Registered New gTLD Topping 38K But 72% Are From NetSol - Ntldstats.com, has updated this morning and .XYZ is now the 4th most popular gTLD with over 38,000 registrations.
However over 72% of these, or over 27,500 domains are at Network Solutions (NSI), which as we discussed yesterday and today, offered free .XYZ domains to certain customers on an opt out basis, meaning that many of these customers may not even know they have an .XYZ domain.

Did NetworkSolutions.com Give Away Free .XYZ Domain Names? -
I published a post earlier today about .XYZ registering over 18,000 domain names in its first day of General Availability based on ntldstats.com, which is what we rely on consistently for our registration numbers.
At the time we did point out that over 50% of all registrations were made at NetworkSolutions.com which was quite unusual, since that registrar has only 8% of the new gTLD market overall, including the 9K+ .XYZ registrations.
Obviously this seemed strange to me since NetSol’s ... read more ...
