After 2 Years .Sex, .Porn & .Adult Become “Sensitive Strings” To The New gTLD Committee - After 2 year years The New gTLD Program Committee (NGPC) has decided that .Sex, .Porn and .Adult are Sensitive Strings according to the minutes of the new gTLD committee to ICANN which are dated July 1st. .XYZ Becomes 1st New gTLD To Pass 250,000 Registrations - .XYZ has become the first new gTLD to pass 250,000 registrations. The official count according to ntldstats.com, 250,731 domain names. Of that amount 217, 752. are registered at Network Solutions representing over 86% of all registrations. As we always note, the vast majority of these .XYZ registrations at Netsol are free and being pushed into customers account without the customers asking for the domains. Another Poor 1st Day For This Weeks New gTLDs: .Vision 905; .Report 845; .Fish 542 - Three new gTLD’s went into their first day of general availability yesterday and it was another underwhelming week. Say Hello To The 1st 158 .NYC Domains: HappyBirthday.NYC, Honeymoon.NYC Startrek.NYC - The Sunrise period for trademark/brand holders closed on June 20 for the .NYC new gTLD, the extension for the city of New York. Afnic: “Launch of a new TLDs: effect of a 50/50 law” - French Study Has Some Interesting Assumptions Afnic the organization that governs the .fr extension put out a report where they took a look at the 50/50 law and how it correlates to new gtlds. It seems the study refers to a law they say is well known among domain professionals. I am not sure this is well known, if it is true then some new gtlds are in for a tough time. New gTLD’s Break The 1.3 Million Mark; .XYZ Tops Over 200K; .Berlin Tops 140K & .Club Over 75K - The total number of new domain extension (gTLD) registrations topped 1.3 Million overnight at ntldstats.com. Almost 4,000 .Berlin Domains Deleted - I was just reviewing RegistrarStats.com and noticed at 3,933 we deleted yesterday at the registry. Like .com domain names new gTLD domain names have a five day grace period in which they can be deleted. Not sure whether these are “free” domain names that were deleted or paid for .Berlin domains that were deleted once the free period started.
