Major changes at the top of the world’s largest domain name registrar.

In Case You Missed It, Friday Was Not a Slow News Day in a Domain Industry -

The Friday before a holiday weekend is usually a slow news day. But I heard some whispers Friday that Go Daddy was going to make a big announcement, hence my tweet around noon.
Indeed, a few hours later Go Daddy announced that it took an investment from KKR, Silver Lake, and Technology Crossover Ventures.

Brilliant: Bob Parsons to Keynote DOMAINfest -
Go Daddy founder to give keynote presentation at DOMAINfest.
I didn’t see this coming, but it’s brilliant: Go Daddy founder Bob Parsons will keynote February’s DOMAINfest Global conference in Santa Monica.

.Me during 250,000: What’s Next? -
250,000 .me domain names have been registered. Here’s what it means.
250,000 .me domain names have been registered since its relaunch earlier this year. I draw two conclusions from this.
First, it shows the power a registrar has in pushing a domain. .Me is run by a partnership between Afilias and GoDaddy. GoDaddy has aggressively pushed the domain and dissed others at the same time. (Bob Parsons stopped using BobParsons.tv and switched to BobParsons.me). ... read more ...

GoDaddy Changes Expired Domain Pricing -
In response to Standard Tactics coverage, GoDaddy has changed starting bids on TDNAM auctions.
Last week I mentioned that GoDaddy was making a change to its TDNAM auctions based on some of my commentary on Standard Tactics. In my commentary I had suggested that, by setting minimum bid prices higher than the standard $10 bid price, GoDaddy was effectively bidding against its customers on TDNAM.
In response, GoDaddy has changed how it prices expired domains. All domains ... read more ...

Analysis of Go Daddy’s Standard Tactics subsidiary.UPDATE 12/17/08: GoDaddy is shutting down Standard Tactics.
It’s been five days since Domain Name Wire published its expose on The Go Daddy Group’s subsidiary Standard Tactics LLC. Why GoDaddy Spent Lobbying Money on Pharmacy Issues -
GoDaddy’s pharmacy lobbying is related to online pharmacy bill.
