Major League Baseball and Miami Heat make domain purchases — and we won’t trust a prices -
NBA team with team salary of $88 million buys a domain for $1,358.
Last week’s end user domain sales report is a week late because I was traveling this week.
Two sports domains traded hands this week at stunningly low prices given who the buyers were. Major League Baseball paid just $900 for TopOfTheOrder.com and while the Miami Heat paid just $1,358 for TheHeatStore.com.
TheHeatStore.com isn’t a great domain, so it wasn’t necessarily worth more. It’s possible ... read more ...

A new Afternic on a approach this week -
A completely refreshed Afternic.com will be released this week.
On Friday Afternic sent a notice to its registered users that the site is getting a major overhaul sometime this week.
When I was at Afternic’s office back in July they gave me a sneak peek of the new system. From what I saw, the new site will be a huge improvement.
Both major domain name marketplaces — Afternic and Sedo — were originally built for the old way of selling domain names. Back then ... read more ...

Afternic auction on SnapNames ends tomorrow -
Auction features 176 domain names.
Afternic’s first auction on SnapNames earlier this year was a big success. It focused light on some good domain names such as Hipsters.com. That domain sold for $28,500 (which I suspect is a lot more than the original fixed asking price!).
The two companies have teamed up again for an 176 domain auction ending Thursday.
At the time of writing nine domains have bids and five have hit their reserves. The current top domain is PoolandPatio.com, ... read more ...

Divorce Detox bought the domain name divorcetherapist.com for $995 at Sedo.

30 finish user domain sales including Microsoft and America’s Cup -
Domain Name Wire’s end user domain sales report.
It’s difficult to compile the end user sales report while traveling. It requires bulk whois lookups, yet many registrars rate limit how many whois searches you can run within a time period. When I’m in the office I have a whitelisted IP for lookups at the largest registrar. But when I’m out of the office a lot of whois searches are blocked.
Why does this matter to you? Well, I’ve been out of the office for ... read more ...

End user sales news and a warning to TED -
End user domain purchases from the past week.
Before we jump in with this week’s end user sales report, I have a warning for the famous TED conferences: be careful with your new domain.
TED bought xNetwork.org for $1,788. I’m not sure what it plans to use it for, but it should think twice before using this domain. The problem is that xNetwork.com is owned by an adult entertainment company offering “free legal images” for webmasters. Although the site’s homepage ... read more ...
