The other side of Click Fraud - Krebs On Security took a look at the practice of click fraud that depletes a competitors ad budget. The practice is to run up the costs and maybe get them to blow their wad early in the day. New Stealthier Ads Are A Big Hit For Google - John Koetsier wrote a very interesting piece on Venture Beat on how the new look of Google ads is boosting click through rates. Ad Impersonation Is The New Click Fraud - Lori Weiman wrote an interesting piece on Search Engine Land a few hours ago, the article focused on a different type of click fraud.  PPC Ad impersonation occurs when an impostor advertiser takes a well known website address, and uses it as the display URL of their own advertisement. Counterfeiters Using Google Adwords is a Big Problem - Randy Pickard made a guest post on Search Engine Land that took a look at all the counterfeiters buying ads on Google that trick consumers into buying knock off goods. U.S. Internet Advertising Surpasses Broadcast TV For a First Time Ever - For the first time, U.S. Internet advertising revenue has surpassed that of broadcast television due to sharp growth in mobile and digital video ads. Desktop Advertising to Drop $1.4 billion in 2014 as Search becomes some-more mobile - eMarketer released a report today that estimates desktop advertising to drop by $1.4 billion while mobile search will increase over 82 % in 2014. Of course Google has been talking about this in their earnings reports for the last couple years. This is certainly not great news for domain investors who park their domains, as mobile clicks pay less than desktop clicks. RKG Digital Marketing Report: Google Search Spend Up 18%: 26% Of Organic Searches On Tablets & Smartphones - RKG, a leading full-service digital marketing agency, released its Digital Marketing Report (full report .pdf) covering the second quarter of 2013 today.
