DotGreen Is No More - Kevin reported on this last night. As you can see from the reactions to his post a lot of people are surprised, shocked and even quite upset that the DotGreen application has been withdrawn. It's not the only application for the string, which is why it was withdrawn, but to many people in the ICANN space it was the applicant everyone associated with the string. The unfortunate reality of the new TLD process is that money speaks more loudly than anything else. Applicants with deep pockets ... read more ...

1and1.com New gTLD Pre-Registrations Top 3 Million Domain Names - 3 million may look like a lot, but when you factor in that some of the big actors applied for multiple strings: Donut… 307 TLDH… 92 Famous Four…57 UniRegistry… 54 Radix… 31 UnitedTLD … 26 Google. 101 Amazon… 76 Microsoft. .. 11 With more than 900 strings, we are talking roughly 3,333.33 recurring, per string. Facing Competition From .Kiwi, New Zeland ccTLD To Allow .NZ Registrations -   “DOT KIWI welcomes .nz to the new era of the internet! We congratulate the Council of InternetNZ for deciding to approve a proposal to allow Kiwis to register their domain names directly to .nz. Like .kiwi, we believe this is a far simpler and more compelling proposition than previous iterations like .co.nz.   When .nz becomes available Kiwis will really be making a choice between two domain names – .kiwi or .nz. I know which one I prefer!   The main issue that InternetNZ will face when ... read more ...

Donuts To Start Sunrise Period For 9 New gTLD’s On October 29th - I’m not a domain maven, so I guess that’s why I don’t get it.
