Two End Users Buy 3 Letter Domain Names -
Energy company and bank invest in better domain names.
There’s little better than owning a nice, short domain name for your company. It’s part of the reason I sprung for DNW.com.
Within the past couple weeks two different end users have purchased three letter domains of their own.
First is Mack Energy Corp, which paid a hefty $99,000 for MEC.com. Mack Energy Corp. is an oil exploration company.
Second is First Fidelity Bank, which has been using the sub-prime ... read more ...

PondPumps.com Sells For $15K On Godaddy.com - In a Godaddy auction that just ended a hour ago, the domain name PondPumps.com sold for $15,671.
I was in the auction until about $7K then dropped out.
Its a nice product domain, but with less than 50 visitors a month (according to Godaddy) I think the domain sold closer to a retail price, rather wholesale, which is what we hope to buy at in a domain auction.
We congratulate the buyer, and and send out a “what the hell were you thinking” to the domain holder that didn’t spend $8 to renew the ... read more ...

When it comes to taxes in the US, 2010 is going to be as good as it gets for those “rich” people making $250K or more if you file jointly and $200K if you file single.

Subway Lawyer Misses Layup, Loses Domain Name -
Subway doesn’t meet low burden of proof and loses domain dispute.
When you see a UDRP case for the domain name MySubwayRewards.com, you assume that the sandwich chain will get a slam dunk. It should be an easy case, especially when the respondent uses the domain name to promote free gift cards to Subway. But that doesn’t mean the complainant gets away without making a basic case.
That’s exactly what happened in the case of Doctor’s Associates Inc. v. Atomix. ... read more ...
New Top Level Domain Trademark Frontrunning Battle Heats Up -
.Eco trademark fight heats up, but pot is calling the kettle black.

One of the examples I gave was .eco. At the time, Colored Planet Connextion appeared close to getting a trademark approved. Canadian company Big Room also filed an application for the .eco mark.
While both of these groups want to launch a ... read more ...

We noted at the time that we believed the domains were no longer owned by Frank and he was somehow allowed to simply not complete the purchase or was able to hand them back.
Many of you doubted this theory and claimed he just placed the domains under privacy.
If you look at the whois on these domains today, its clear that Frank no longer owns these domains as they are now in redemption:

Learn.TV sold for $40K+
Job.tv and jobs.tv sold for $20k+ each.
The big losers were the Geo’s, with Japan.TV and Germany.TV selling for just around 10k each.
Another surprise for me was that the single digit domains; 2.tv, 3.tv, 4.tv, 5.tv sold for just in the mid-four figures.
