Can Oversee Get Some Of The Money They Paid For Snapnames.com Back? - It was in May 2007 that Oversee bought Snapnames.com for tens of millons of dollars.
Shortly thereafter, Network Solutions its largest registrar partner used the escape clause in their contract with Snapnames.com to pull out of their agreement.
Now it appears that the former employee of Snapnames engaged in shill bidding was also a shareholder of the company that sold Snapnames.com to Oversee.
If, as we quoted President of Oversee Jeff Kupietzky as saying, 75% of all this shilling bidding took ... read more ...

Atlanta.com Mistakenly Named in Domain Dispute -
Atlanta.com included in UDRP by accident.
My heart skipped a beat today when I saw that Atlanta.com had been served with a domain arbitration notice. But then I quickly figured out that this is some sort of clerical error.
Automobile Atlanta, Inc. filed a case with National Arbitration Forum for six domains including automobileatlanta.com, autoatlanta.net, automobileatlanta.net, dr914.com, and lifeinhighgear.com. Oh yeah, and a minor domain name called Atlanta.com ... read more ...
Domain Auctions: Chill Out, But Let’s Re-examine -
It’s time to step back and re-evaluate domain name auctions.
The news today about an employee bidding at SnapNames is certainly disappointing. So here’s my take on what the domain industry should do.
First, chill out. I’ve seen a bunch of comments today from people that now assume everyone who ever beat them in an auction is a fake bidder or scammer. Look, there are a lot of people out there who bid at the last second, bid in a lot of auctions, and bid to ... read more ...

Valuate.com Offers Nifty Domain Evaluation Tools -
Valuate.com’s solid user interface gives quick access to domain data.
It’s been a couple weeks since Cybertonic, the same company behind Domaining.com, launched Valuate.com in beta. Valuate uses Estibot 2.0 in the background to create domain appraisals.
Now, I’m not usually a fan of automated appraisals. I think I’ll hit the next person who tells me a domain sold below market value “because Estibot says it’s worth x”. But there’s something to be ... read more ...
Google Steps Up Domain Name Arbitration Cases -
Google steps up domain trademark enforcement for its brands.
After many years of using domain arbitration as the last resort for picking up trademark domains, Google has gotten involved in the domain arbitration process in a big way this year. Either it is changing its trademark domain recapturing process or the number of AWOL trademark registrants is on the rise.
When Google filed a case for GoogleAdwords.com last year, my question to Google was ‘what took you ... read more ...

Gambling domain takes top spot for the week.
There were no six figure sales at Sedo this past week, but the broker still scored some big sales. Number one on the list is PokerBonus.com at $85,000. The domain’s whois record has been protected by a private registration for much of the past few years, but last month a public record showed that the domain was owned by an Australian man.

8 Ways to Improve Domain Conference Programming -
Here are ways to make next year’s conferences even more valuable.
As the 2009 domain conference schedule draws to a close and a record number of conferences are on the schedule for 2010, I thought I’d give some general feedback on how to make conference programming better. Jon Stewart Reluctantly Settles for .Net, Struggles with Comptroller -
Two Daily Show clips related to domain names (Ok, so one’s a stretch).
Last week on the Daily Show Jon Stewart discussed net neutrality. In the story, he also poked fun at domain names, saying he registered a .net because he couldn’t get the .com. He repeated it several times during the story. I can’t repeat the made up domain he mentions in the video, but he emphasized .net. “I was going to have that .com but it was already taken, so I got dot net.”
