eCoupons Locks In Country Code Domains for Success -
eCoupons.com cashes in with category-defining domain names — in the U.S. and abroad.
Matthew Cheng’s launch into the eCoupons business got a big boost in 2001. He wanted to get the ideal domain name for an ecoupons site, and a once-in-a-dot.com-bubble opportunity came about.
eCoupons.com was an existing company that was shut down as the dot.com bubble crashed. The domain name expired and dropped, and was quickly snatched up by Michele Dinoia. (Dinoia owns a ... read more ...

$1.1 million purchase may be just the beginning.
Boris Kreiman (and his company PhoneToPhone) has been confirmed as the buyer of Call.com. The better news is that he’s an end user, and he’s not done buying domain names.
I briefly connected with Kreiman on the phone this morning to learn about his plans for the site.
Kreiman runs a network of sites that connects consumers to professionals via the phone. An example is NewLawyer.com, where consumers can find a ... read more ...

Domain Name Scam Moves Web Site Again -
Scam moves to a new domain.
I’m getting tired of writing these stories (again), but I consider them a public service announcement.
A long running domain name appraisal scam has moved to a new domain name, Macez.com. That the scammers keep moving shows that the scam is working well by getting unsuspecting people to pay for an appraisal at Macez.com.
If you receive this email, hit “report spam” on your email client. Do not buy a domain appraisal from macez.com.

The letter states:

eBay Starts Paying Affiliates by a Click. Here’s Why. -
eBay is no longer paying per sale. But the real reason isn’t so obvious.
For years, online retailer and auction service eBay offered a traditional affiliate program. It paid affiliates for sending new registrations and sales to eBay, similar to how most online retailers pay a commission for sales.
But as many companies try to move from PPC to a pay-for-performance model, eBay is going the opposite direction.
Well, in name only. It’s still pay-for-performance, ... read more ...
