Media company holds party for its three Austin ventures.
Social media and domain name company Demand Media, which owns domain registrar eNom, held a party in Austin last night for its three local ventures: Pluck, which it recently bought for $70 million, Livestrong.com, a partnership with the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and ExpertVillage.

The Street.com: Online Advertising Stays Healthy - In an article published by thestreet.com today, it states that:
“Online advertising continues to stand its ground even in a shaky economy”
The street quoted Sanford Bernstein analyst, Jeffrey Lindsay, as seeing online advertising growing by 23.9% in the U.S. and 23.3% worldwide in 2008.

Dark Blue Sea enters into Agreement with GoDaddy to Sell the Domains - According to a report in tradingmarkets.com, Dark Blue Sea, part of our Domain parking Stock Index, entered into a 5 year agreement with GoDaddy.com to sell domain names from its own portfolio.
Dark Blue Sea will issue GoDaddy an option to acquire 6.5 million shares of Dark Blue Sea shares at an exercise price of $.65 AU, expiring on June 7, 2013.
To exercise the options, Godaddy.com has to sell 45,000 domains of Dark Blue Sea over the same time frame.

RAMP.COM AT $13k ON EBAY WITH 10 HOURS TO GO: - We discussed the domain auction for Ramp.com at ebay, several days ago.
We want to report that the listing has been updated to provide for the trasnaction to be completed in escrow through the attorney for the debtor which owns the domain and which has been ordered sold by the Bankruptcy Court.
With this added information it seems like a real sale which the buyer will be protected.

Florida changes domain name for drivers license site. But it’s still bad.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles changed its domain name this month from hsmv.state.fl.us to flhsmv.gov. OK, so that’s an improvement, but wow that sucks.
According to Electra Bustle, the department’s executive director, “This new address is easier to remember and will help identify the department as a government organization.”

Microsoft Buys online ad company - On Friday Microsoft announced that they bought Rapt, a San Francisco-based online ad management firm, for an undisclosed sum.
The move came three days after Google’s closed on its 3.3 billion dollar, acquisition of DoubleClick.
Both acquisitions are a sign of the heated battle between the companies for a share of the growing display advertising market.

Yahoo Microsoft Talk - According to the Wall Street Journal, Senior executives from Microsoft and Yahoo met for the first time Monday to discuss Microsoft’s takeover offer for the internet company, a breakthrough that could be the first step toward a friendly deal between the two rivals.
