Verisign Publishes 3rd Part of Four Part Series On Name Collisions - Verisign publishes the 3rd part of a new 4 part series on name collisions last night. “Blocking a second level domain (SLD) simply on the basis that it was queried for in a past sample set runs a significant risk of false positives.  SLDs that could have been delegated safely may be excluded on quantitative evidence alone, limiting the value of the new gTLD until the status of the SLD can be proven otherwise. Similarly, not blocking an SLD on the basis that it was not queried for in a past sample ... read more ...

Verisign Publishes “New gTLD Security, Stability, Resiliency Update: Exploratory Consumer Impact Analysis” - Consider what might happen if overnight, some networked systems inside a healthcare provider in Japan began to suffer undiagnosed system failures. After unconditional it underneath a rug, Name Collisions come behind to haunt new TLD program - Name collisions derail new top level domain name timeline. First, major domain name companies including VeriSign and Go Daddy are spending less on lobbying than they used to. Second, a lot of non-domain name companies are lobbying about domain ... read more ...
