Big Up Swing In Personal Domain Registration To Point To Social Media Sites - GoDaddy Inc. (NYSE: GDDY), and Verisign (VRSN) are seeing an upswing in people registering “personal domain names” just to point them to their social media sites.
It seems people have gotten the word that they don’t control their social media pages, the underlying social media company’s do so they are registering these personal domain names and pointing them to a their social media page.

Study on Facebook Users: 14% Check It During A Funeral; 15% in The Shower - Stop Procrastinating published the results of a survey of 2,000 people that use Facebook Regularly and it contains some pretty interesting results:
56% described their Facebook use as compulsive and of these, 68% were worried by their inability to control their use of Facebook.
Examples include:
Leaving a restaurant meal with friends or their partner to visit the bathroom or toilet to check Facebook.

Twitter and Facebook Gaining in Popularity when it comes to News - Twitter and Facebook are becoming go to sources for news
An article published today on Marketing Land looked at a recent survey that showed Facebook and Twitter gaining credibility when it comes to getting news.
I would say the one cautionary note about all this is the millions of spoof accounts out there, or sites that say they are parody and users still overlook that disclaimer, and treat the news as real.

Inc.com Says Guru & Ninja Are 2 of a 12 Worst Things You Can Call Yourself On Linkedin - An interesting post by Inc.com on the worst things you can call (or refer) yourself on Linkedin and out of the 12 words you can use the authors says that two of the words are also new gTLD’s.
“There are so many terrible words people use to make themselves sound exciting on LinkedIn.”
Guru and Ninja both make the list.
If these words are bad to refer to yourself on linked in by the same logic if you buy it they would also be bad to use as your domain name.

Google To Get Access To The Twitter Firehose - Google will get access to the Twitter firehose once again and tweets should become indexed in Google right after they are posted. This could maybe be beneficial to those tweeting domains for sale if those tweets get indexed under the targeted keyword. Bloomberg Business broke the story.

Twitpic is Shutting Down Due To Trademark Issue With Twitter - According to a post on its company blog, Twitpic which has been around since 2008 is shutting down after due to trademark issues with Twitter.

Twitter Wants To Mess With Your Timeline - Selena Larson wrote a piece on Read Write that Twitter is now going to selectively put tweets in your timeline from accounts you don’t follow. Selena points out that this may be being done to make Twitter easier for newcomers as they can see things they might have missed. $50,000 Per Post for Breaking A Social Media Contract ? - Social Media is finding its way into prenuptial agreements. Social Media clauses are being put into prenuptial agreements in case of marriages going bad and one spouse tweeting say a nude pic of their former love. Twitter To Roll Out Mute Button -
Twitter is finally coming out with a mute button. So this way someone can still follow someone but not be subjected to something like a Twitter blast. For example, there are people I follow on Twitter who every once in awhile decide to do 30 domain for sale tweets in row. I think one or two tweets about a name for sale, especially if it is at wholesale pricing or a bargain deal makes sense.

LinkedIn Tops 300 Million Members -
LinkedIn reached 300 million members according to a story in USA Today.
The company was founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, the company is now a publicly traded company and is currently trading at $175 a share, this equates to a market cap of $21.6 billion.
