pcNames.com Review - pcNames makes it easy to find available, expired, and pre-release domain names. I use a number of web sites to find quality domains names. For example, if I need a domain name related to phones, I might search at SnapCheck or DomainTools.com to find available or expiring domains that include “phone”. Both of these are good services I highly recommend. But there’s a fairly new player in town that deserves a pat on the back. pcNames makes it very easy to find ... read more ...

Afternic Update - Inside two weeks, my Afternic featured listing have resulted in two sales. It was just a couple weeks ago that I started my experiment with Afternic’s “Featured Listing” service, listing 11 of my domains in the Home Featured category. So far two of my domains have met their reserves and will sell. YouSubmit.com – closes today at 9:19PM ET. Current offer is $180. It’s been a week since I upgraded 11 of my domain listings on Afternic to “Home Featured” (see Afternic Featured Listings experiment.) TrafficClub Jun results - My TrafficClub domain parking revenue performance improved in June but is still below April. My overall RPM (revenue per 1000 views) in June was $54.18, up from $51.20 in May but still below April’s $57.90. When you consider the relative traffic to individual domains within a portfolio, the difference between $51 and $58 is relatively small. Granted, if you receive 100,000 views per month this comes out to $700. But my portfolio gets nowhere near that much traffic. I ... read more ...

Afternic Featured Listings experiment - Over the next month I’m testing 11 domains on Afternic’s home page featured section. Listing domains on exchanges like Afternic and Sedo is typically free, but exposure is limited. Both of these services offer premium listings that offer more exposure for a price. Over the next 30 days I am listing 11 of my domains on Afternic’s home page featured section and will report to you with my results (i.e., sales, offers, views) compared to regular listings. I’ve ... read more ...

Yahoo’s Overture to throw despotic bid-for-placement - Yahoo Search Marketing, also known as Overture, is scrapping the strict bid-for-placement system it invented. When Yahoo rolls out its updated search advertising system later this year, the highest bidder will no longer be guaranteed to show up at the top. Yahoo is switching to a system similar to Google and MSN, that takes into consideration both the bid amount and click-through rate of the ads. This should help with relevance while boosting Yahoo’s revenue. Yahoo ... read more ...

NameDrive continues to pull domain parking limits - I recently asked NameDrive president Ed Russell about recent developments at his company, including IDN support and the $300,000 sale of Blackjack.de. DNW: NameDrive has quickly become one of the most popular domain parking services. How many domains are you currently monetizing? How quickly has this grown? NameDrive: Since our launch in September 2005, we have shown extremely rapid growth, with Google saying we are the fastest-growing third party reseller their ... read more ...

Fabulous to list domains on TDNAM - Agreement is first major listing partnership for GoDaddy’s domain aftermarket. GoDaddy announced a deal today with domain owner and marketer Fabulous to list Fabulous domains on its domain aftermarket, TDNAM. To my knowledge this is the first major listing agreement for TDNAM. Other aftermarkets have similar listing deals, such as Afternic listing thousands of BuyDomains listings. I just reviewed the TDNAM site and don’t see any obvious integration of Fabulous ... read more ...

Afternic removing a makeover - Afternic is getting ready to launch its redesigned site. When I sat down with Roger Collins of Afternic at Domain Roundtable in April, he told me Afternic was undergoing a complete redesign. Afternic has released a preview of the new design here. It looks like a winner to me. (My #1 concern with Afternic has been loading speed, and this appears to be getting better. Afternic just released a major database upgrade.) The new GUI will be a welcome change as well. ... read more ...

GoDaddy throws shawl into domain parking ring - GoDaddy has opened up its domain parking service to the public — but charges a fee to participate. GoDaddy has long been one of the internet’s biggest domain parking companies, but it has limited its parking pages to domains registered through its company and not put to use. GoDaddy didn’t share its parking revenue. A while back it started offering revenue share to its resellers. If someone registered a domain through a reseller and didn’t put it to use, ... read more ...

Commission Junction changes couple plans - Affiliate heavyweight Commission Junction caved to publisher complaints and changed its phase out plan for affiliate links. If you’re like many domain name owners, you depend on affiliate programs in addition to pay per click revenue. One of the biggest affiliate networks, Commission Junction, recently announced plans to introduce javascript links to replace standard HTML links. On the surface this is a smart move. It allows Commission Junction’s advertisers ... read more ...

Stats from parked domains - SiteParker has released aggregate stats about parked domains that reveal some interesting user behaviors. Domain parking company SiteParker has released data from over 1,000,000 visits to 15,000 domains in the first quarter of the year. I haven’t seen domain parking companies releasing stats like this before, so kudos to SiteParker. The stats reveal that there are 1.3 page views per unique visitor to parked domains. NameDrive offers World Cup Contest - Domain parking company NameDrive is offering up to triple your parking earnings during the World Cup of football (that’s soccer to most of us). Learning some-more about Parked.com domain parking - Parked.com is grabbing attention as a new alternative in the crowded field of domain parking. I recently asked Donny Simonton, CIO of Parked.com, a few questions about what makes the service different from the competition. (The parking service was created by directNIC.) 1. It seems like a new parking service opens its doors every week. How will Parked.com stand out from the crowd? Unlike some of the new companies that are coming out we have been in the parking ... read more ...

Give parking companies a possibility to optimize - Domainers should test domains with parking companies for at least a month to achieve valuable results. When I first started parking a couple dozen names at Parked.com a couple weeks ago I was dissapointed with the RPM. At first it showed links related to music in general ... read more ...

Sacrificing parking income for destiny profits - Communicate.com’s latest earnings report shows that the company is banking on the long term value of developing its domains. Communication.com (OTCBB: CMNN.ob) announced its latest quarterly earnings. The company went into the red for Q1, compared with a profit of $133k in the same quarter a year earlier. But investors need not panic. Communication.com President David Jeffs said: We made some planned changes in Q1 that have adversely affected our near-term results, ... read more ...

Parked.com domain name parking - Newcomer Parked.com has great landing pages and pays twice each month. It seems like every week a new domain parking company enters the market. (And we’re just a week or two away from Sedo launching its SedoPro service, which many domainers are anxiously awaiting.) But Parked.com might give other parking services a run for their money. Some of Parked.com’s features will at least push the competitive edge so that other parking companies have to improve their ... read more ...

Yahoo ads to get an upgrade - Yahoo Search Marketing (also known as Overture to the domain community) is getting an upgrade. The upgrade is long overdue to compete with Google. Overture invented the pay-per-click search market but in this case being second to market was a benefit for Google. Google was able to learn from Overture’s (then GoTo.com) mistakes to create a more flexible system. Yahoo and Google feed most paid parking programs. Yahoo feeds programs like GoldKey and newcomer Parked.com. ... read more ...

ValuableNames.com Review - The ValuableNames.com domain service is expensive but worth the price. Yesterday I reviewed NameSpy, an expiring domain service that I don’t think is worth the $39.95 monthly fee. So you might be surprised that today I’m going to recommend a domain service that costs a whopping $699 a month! ValuableNames helps you find great domain names that are currently registered but underused. The current owners of these domains might not understand the full value of the ... read more ...
