DotGreen to Battle DotEco -
DotGreen to take on DotEco.
When I wrote my tongue-in-cheek guide on how to my .Eco a success, I joked:
Make sure the other side doesn’t decide to just get .green instead. You need to get their heads stuck on .eco. If they opt for .green, you could have long term competition. And that’s not what this is about; you need to get a monopoly TLD.
I should have done some fact checking, because, buried beneath all of the hoopla around .eco, a group has announced .green.
And, ... read more ...

eBay Starts Paying Affiliates by a Click. Here’s Why. -
eBay is no longer paying per sale. But the real reason isn’t so obvious.
For years, online retailer and auction service eBay offered a traditional affiliate program. It paid affiliates for sending new registrations and sales to eBay, similar to how most online retailers pay a commission for sales.
But as many companies try to move from PPC to a pay-for-performance model, eBay is going the opposite direction.
Well, in name only. It’s still pay-for-performance, ... read more ...

Which Domain Conferences You Should Go To in 2010 -
A handy guide to choosing a domain conference.
Well, I guess the domain name conference wars are on again. We already knew about two conferences in the first two months of the year — DOMAINfest and Domainer MardiGras. But then, despite having only two conferences in the U.S. this year, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. found it necessary to hold a conference in Las Vegas just before DOMAINfest. And so it begins.

Adsense as a Platform and What it Means for Publishers -
Google Adsense shows off its platform.
Google Adsense is not an ad network. It’s an advertising platform, and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is taking steps to open it up.
Adsense is taking its next step to opening up the platform by allowing other display advertising companies to place ads on Adsense Publishers’ sites.
For example, Google may be able to offer you a $1 CPM on display ads on your site, while another ad network can offer $2. The other ad network’s ... read more ...

Revisiting a CPA Business Model -
Another look at cost-per-action and how it can be used with domain names.
With Rick Latona Auction’s CPA (cost-per-action) domain name auction on the horizon, I thought it would be worthwhile to revisit CPA and how it can make money for domainers.
Most domainers use pay-per-click to monetize their domain names. This is a great monetization strategy, but for certain verticals CPA may produce more money. Domains that have to do with anything that requires leads, ... read more ...

How to Promote Your Web Site with Facebook -
Another way to promote your developed web sites.
Big companies use fan pages on Facebook, and so should you. If you have a web site you actively promote, it makes sense to set up a fan page on the social network.
The benefit should be fairly clear, but at the simplest level a fan page allows you to “push” your message out to fans whenever you’d like. Think of it as if all of your fans subscribe to your RSS feed and an email newsletter. Whenever you want to ... read more ...
