Sex.com Sale For $13M Completes; Previous Purchase Price Was $11.5 Million - Sedo.com just put out a press release announcing the completion of the sale the domain name Sex.com for $13 Million Dollars cash.
We pretty much knew that, but the press release did contain some real news.
The previous purchase of Sex.com in 2006, which was always rumored to be in the price range of $10 Million to $14 Million, but never had a definitive price, was confirmed by the press release to have actually been $11.5 million dollars.
So on paper it looks like the previous purchase was profitable.

Sex.com officially becomes the largest all cash publicly announced domain sale of all time.
The check has cleared.

Afternic.com Racks Up Another $430K In Sales Highlighted by Dnb.net for $18K and MDS.Net For 11k - Afternic reported sales for the week ending November 14th.
The list includes all .com reportable sales over $2K and all reportable non.com sales over $1K.
Off hand I like totaleducation.com for $2K, and its interesting to note that there were 3 .net sales that were higher priced than the highest priced .com that sold for the week.

Moments ago John Battelle, on the main stage of the opening of Web 2.0 Summit, announced that .co will be auctioning off the i.co domain name. The auction will be handled by Oversee.net through its Moniker/SnapNames division.

Confirmed: Facebook Acquires FB.com Domain Name -
Facebook acquires FB.com domain name.
Ending months of speculation, it’s now confirmed that Facebook has acquired the FB.com domain name.
The whois record for the domain name just updated to show Facebook’s name and nameservers for the domain name.

Afternic.com Sells Over $350K in Domains This Week - Afternic.com just released the results of their reportable domain sales for the week ending November 7th, with over $350,000 in sales.
As last week, included in the tally are only the reportable .com’s which sold for $2,000 or more and non .com’s which sold for $1K or more.
Topping this weeks list this week is the domain name Vivent.com which sold for $15K.
Vivent translated from Dutch into English as “listen” and Vivent.nl seems to belong to a fairly big company

Zoom.com Domain Name and IP Rights Sell for $350,000 in Stock -
Mobile phone manufacturer gets domain name and trademark rights.
Zoom Technologies, a Chinese manufacturer of mobile phones, has announced it acquired the domain name Zoom.com as well as trademark rights to the Zoom name from Zoom Telephonics.

Also selling on Sedo today was Liberia.net which sold for $13,096.
Liberia is a country in Africa and well as a city in Costa Rica with an airport.

Localidad.com which means “location” in spanish sold for $2,100.

V9.Com Sells For $70,000 On Afternic: PlaygroundEquipment.net For $60K: Total Of $600K This Week - Afternic.com just announced that it sold the domain name V9.com for a whopping $70,000.
The domain highlights over $430,000 in reportable .com domain sales for the week ending October 31, 2010 on Afternic, only including domains that sold for $2,000 and over.
Now we have all heard of V8 but I have never heard of V9, but at $70K it must be one better.
The domain was owned by BuyDomains.com.
We do not know who the buyer was at this point, but its a great sale and a great price so congrats to Afternic/BuyDomains.com

Court Approves Sex.com Sale - The Court overseeing the Sex.com bankruptcy case approved the sale of the domain name yesterday for $13 Million dollars.
It looks like the Court also ordered the $2 Million dollars that was the subject of a motion to object to the sale filed by Nothin’ But Net to be held pending additional hearing on that matter.
Once again it’s a great sale and almost double what I expected the domain to fetch.

Court approves deal, holds back some of proceeds.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Central California has handed down an order (pdf) approving the sale of Sex.com to Clover Holdings Limited for $13 million.
Upon completion of the sale, Sex.com owner Escom will pay creditor Washington Technology Associates $6,312,593 and creditor DOM Partners $3,772,545. That comes out to $10,085,138. Domain broker Sedo also gets its cut of the pie, which presumably is somewhere shy ... read more ...
