Action.com Looks Like It Sold for Big Bucks Again -
Sedo sales feed reports a big sale.
Action.com sold for $230,000 at a live Moniker auction back in 2008, and it looks like it may have just sold for big bucks once again.
This morning Sedo’s domain sales feed shows a $270,000 sale for the domain name:
Sedo’s RSS sales feed is known for randomly throwing up sales from many years ago, but given the difference in price this one looks to be legit. (Plus, Sedo wasn’t the seller back in 2008). The whois on the ... read more ...

After Losing UDRP, New York Times Buys DealBook.com from Frank Schilling -
Media behemoth buys Dealbook.com domain name after losing arbitration for the domain.
In November I wrote about how Frank Schilling defeated New York Times Company in a landmark UDRP ruling for the domain name Dealbook.com.
After losing the decision it appears New York Times ponied up and bought the domain name. The domain name has not yet been forwarded to the publication’s Dealbook site.
Schilling’s Name Administration owned the domain name through early ... read more ...

Moniker Auction Bulks Up By Slimming Down -
Fewer domains, better quality on tap for next live domain auction.
This headline may seem contradictory. But it aptly describes the change Moniker has made with its live auctions of late, and it’s very apparent with February’s DOMAINfest Auction.
What’s the change? Fewer domains. Better quality.
The Premium Live auction on February 3 will have no more than 100 domains and should take less than two hours to complete. (Only 90 minutes is scheduled, but you ... read more ...

Austin.com Goes Up for Sale -
Big geo domain is looking for a new owner.
The domain name and web site Austin.com is now officially for sale at Sedo.
I caught wind a few months ago that the site was up for sale, which didn’t surprise me much. I met with one of Austin.com’s key employees a year or two ago and left feeling that the site owners were taking it in the wrong direction. They were investing a significant amount on creating timely content rather than focusing on building out the directory ... read more ...

The First Thing to Do When You Get an Offer on a Domain Name -
Shift to syndicated buy-it-now domain listings changes what you do after receiving an offer on your domain names.
In the “old days” when you received an offer on a domain name your first step would be to try to figure out who’s was making the offer.
But now that many people are using buy-it-now syndicated listings with Go Daddy and Afternic, there’s a step that’s even more important: removing your buy-it-now listing before negotiating.

Facebook Still in Dispute With Organization that Sold it FB.com for $8M+ -
Now that we know how much FB.com sold for, you may be surprised that Facebook is still embroiled in a dispute with the seller.
We now have a better idea how much Facebook paid for FB.com — likely $8 million or more.
Given this high number it’s shocking that the social network hasn’t yet settled its trademark dispute with seller American Farm Bureau.
American Farm Bureau challenged Facebook after the latter filed a trademark for “FB”. While the dispute was ... read more ...

Wow.
Yes I know the domain had some traffic according to Compete and Alexa but it was a site with pics of boats and girls, but I have no idea of how this domain is worth $15k in the wholesale market.
The winning bidder ID was Santababy which is quite apropo as this price was a gift to the NameJet gods.

This was an active web site until earlier this year. Compete.com shows it getting as many as 20,000 unique visitors in February 2010 before falling off a cliff when the site shut down. It currently gets around 5,000 uniques.

It looks like the buyer is “World Energy Holdings and Research”.
I’m sure there are plenty of domainers who would have sold this domain for 10% or less than what it sold for, but its another example of realizing who the potential buyer of a domain might be before quoting a price.
