Meet a lady who bought a domain name instead of a house -
Business founder spent house deposit on a domain name.
I got a kick out of an article in the Sydney Morning Herald today.
The story features Posse.com founder Rebekah Campbell. Campbell bought the Posse.com domain name with $28,000 of her savings.
“My mother was upset with me about that,” says Campbell. “She had found me a house to buy and I told her: ‘I can’t buy it. I just bought a domain name.'”
The domain name, normally a very cheap purchase, was ... read more ...

End user sales news and a warning to TED -
End user domain purchases from the past week.
Before we jump in with this week’s end user sales report, I have a warning for the famous TED conferences: be careful with your new domain.
TED bought xNetwork.org for $1,788. I’m not sure what it plans to use it for, but it should think twice before using this domain. The problem is that xNetwork.com is owned by an adult entertainment company offering “free legal images” for webmasters. Although the site’s homepage ... read more ...

Salesforce.com buys Work.com domain name -
Another confirmation that Salesforce.com bought Work.com domain name.
In March I put together a fairly convincing argument that Salesforce.com had purchased Work.com.
Now we have another good confirmation: the nameservers on Work.com have changed to Salesforce.com. Here are the nameservers currently on the Work.com domain name:
In March I wrote about how all signs pointed to Salesforce having purchased the domain name. The whois record and brand protection company ... read more ...

Yep, Google bought G.me and it now forwards to Google+ -
Google adds another one letter domain name to its collection.
In May I wrote about how Google may have purchased the domain name G.me. The domain name was registered to Mark Monitor’s DNStinations, which often times registers domain names on behalf of the company.
Now it’s official: Google was the buyer.
The nameservers for the domain also point to Google.com now. Type g.me in your browser and you’ll be forwarded to the plus.google.com.

Expecting.com Sold For $50K On Sedo - The domain name Expecting.com just crossed the Sedo sales wire at $49,999.
The domain was owned by Kron Studio of Miami Beach, Florida who seems to have owned the domain since at least 2001, although the original registration date is May 1996.
The domain is still in escrow at Sedo so we don’t know who the buyer is yet, but it certainly would be a great domain for a site for soon to be mothers.

44% of total sales were the result of Buy Now listings.
As we know BIN listings tend to be lower priced so the combination of only $1.2 Million in sales with what I think maybe a new high for 2012 of 44% BIN priced domains give support to my Domaining 6.0 post of a week ago.

Boston: a core of a domain name aftermarket -
Two companies in Boston handle the bulk of the domain name aftermarket.
I’m up in Boston for HostingCon, and spent my Monday visiting two of the largest and longest running domain name aftermarkets: NameMedia (Afternic) and Sedo.
The two are separated by just a fifteen minute drive, so it’s fair to call Boston the center of the domain name aftermarket.
