Do programmed appraisals work? -
Sometimes, but there are notable limits.
It’s one of the great debates in the domain name industry: do automated domain name appraisals work? Are any domain appraisals (even from humans) accurate?
I thought about this again today as I put together the end user sales report. People usually comment that certain domains were priced really low.
So I decided to run a non-scientific sample from Afternic’s sales this past week, starting with the top 15 reported sales. ... read more ...

Your domain names are value reduction than we think -
You probably want more money for your domain names than they’re worth.
This weekend I was at the mall waiting “about an hour” for my new eyeglasses. With time to kill, I turned to Twitter and saw this tweet from Elliot Silver:
Elliot is not one to be over critical, so I had to click through to see what all of the fuss was about.
Here’s the background.
Recently Elliot started doing a weekly post with a handful of top listings from various domain brokers. ... read more ...

At slightest 38 domains will sell in Dotster auction finale tomorrow -

Visiting Flippa in Melbourne, Australia -
Behind every internet company there are some bricks and mortar. Here’s where Flippa lives.

30 finish user domain sales including Microsoft and America’s Cup -
Domain Name Wire’s end user domain sales report.
It’s difficult to compile the end user sales report while traveling. It requires bulk whois lookups, yet many registrars rate limit how many whois searches you can run within a time period. Why does this matter to you? Well, I’ve been out of the office for ... read more ...
