Mike Mann Sells UpperPeninsula.com For $55,000 Purchased For $2,500 - Mike Mann announced on his Facebook Page a short time ago that he has sold the domain name UpperPeninsula.com For a whooping $55,000, a domain he bought back in 2007 for just $2,500
This isn’t the only sale Mike has announced in the last couple of day.
Today alone Mike says he sold 14 domain names for a total of over $70K, including UpperPeninsula.com.

$4M+ GiftCard.com seller is no foreigner to large sheet domain sales -
Seller also sold CashBack.com to Microsoft.
Yesterday Gift Card Lab announced that it had acquired GiftCard.com for over $4 million in cash and equity.
The purchase was not just a domain name; it came with a long running business that also included the 1-800-gift-card vanity number.
I confirmed with Gift Card Lab that it paid $4 million in cash and the equity was on top of that. But I also wanted to check in with the seller, Maynard Small.

UPDATE: GiftCard.com Purchased For $4 Million Dollars Cash Plus Stock - We wrote earlier today about GiftCard.com selling according to a press release for $4 million dollars.
The PR chatted about stock plus cash but the buyer of the domain has confirmed that $4 Million in cash was paid for the domain, with the stock being a kicker (extra) compensation.
This therefore becomes the highest domain sale of 2012.

Huge week for finish user domain sales: UFC, USPS, Nuance, etc. -
Big names buy domain names this week.
All I can say is “wow!”. This was a huge week for end user domain name purchases. I honestly don’t recall a week with this many big names on the list.

Go Daddy Auctions sells 30,000+ domains in September -
Another month of over 30,000 domain name sales in Go Daddy’s aftermarket.
Go Daddy Auctions is reporting over 30,000 domains sold last month.
The ticker shows 30,839; the number is typically adjusted upward as final tallies come in.
The top reported sale for last month is CashLady.com at $36,000. The domain name was purchased by PDB UK, a payday loans broker in the United Kingdom.

A new Afternic on a approach this week -
A completely refreshed Afternic.com will be released this week.
On Friday Afternic sent a notice to its registered users that the site is getting a major overhaul sometime this week.

Quidsi’s latest generic domain store: Vine.com.
I’ve scooped a number of Quidsi store openings based on generic domains they’ve bought — from Afterschool.com to Casa.com.
But I missed this one: Quidsi just launched Vine.com, a store with “natural products for green living”.
George Kirikos points out that the company appears to have acquired the domain name through Mark Monitor over the past few weeks. It was previously owned by a company called Vine Technology.

One of The Best Domains In The World Goes Up For Sale: Music.com - According to a press release out this morning, the domain name Music.com is up for sale exclusively with DomainAdvisors.com
Beyond being in what is in my opinion one of the top 10 generic .com domain names, there are 8 applicants for the new gTLD .Music, including Google and Amazon.

Sedo announced a new auction option this morning called “Last Chance Auctions”.
The more I learn about it, the more I like the idea.

Sedo.com Transactions For The Week Total $1.3 Million - Sedo just posted it weekly report.
In all, 858 transactions took place on Sedo’s marketplace and via SedoMLS, totaling $1.3 million.
Over 42% of total sales were the result of Buy Now listings.

17 domains have already met their reserves with a couple days to go.
Sedo’s monthly GreatDomains auction ends Thursday.
So far 17 of the 217 domain names have met their reserves. The highest domain name to have met its reserve is PTZ.com at $5,000.
Another three letter .com attracting attention is OAL.com at $14,000, although its reserve of up to $25,000 hasn’t been met.

Company forks out cash for two letter domain — which is a truncation of a six letter word.
The Atlantic today launched Quartz, a publication targeted to upscale readers.
What does this have to do with domain names, other than the decidedly upscale audience that reads Domain Name Wire?
The company bought QZ.com for the site.
Atlantic Media Incorporated bought the domain name around April this year according to historical whois records.

CA Technologies sells Platinum.com domain name for $250,000 -
Domain name appears to have been sold to pet food company.
It looks like CA (aka Computer Associates) has sold one of its prime domain names, Platinum.com.
Moniker has confirmed that it brokered the transaction and the sales price was $250,000.
The domain name was featured in Moniker’s DOMAINfest and Spring Auctions with a reserve range of $500,000 to $1,000,000.

Salesforce finally puts Work.com to work -
Salesforce is now using work.com, a domain name it bought earlier this year.
Earlier this year I discovered that Salesforce had purchased Work.com.
It has now put the domain name to work.
The company is using the domain name for Rypple, a “social performance” platform it acquired last year.

Pixel Capital buys domain names to enter online travel market.
Australian company Pixel Capital Pty Ltd announced last week that it had acquired Accommodation.com and Accommodation.co.uk for a combined $528,000 USD.
Both domain names were owned by a British company and were developed at one point.
