My.CO Powers .co Domain Name Registrations -
Company offers way for non-.co-accredited registrars to sell .co registrations.
One of the unique aspects of the launch of the .co domain name is that there are only ten domain name registrars accredited to sell the domains. This includes some big names such as Go Daddy, eNom, and Tucows. But that means that smaller registrars are shut out from selling .co domain names unless they strike a deal with one of the ten accredited registrars. That creates an interesting ... read more ...

Rosenblatt: We Love eNom for a Data -
eNom brings in revenue — but also important data — for Demand Media.
Yesterday Demand Media CEO Richard Rosenblatt discussed his business at the All Things D conference. When describing the business, he noted that there are essentially two sides: domains and content.
But what was particularly interesting about the domains side is the value it brings to the company. Sure, eNom brings in recurring revenue. But beyond the money is the data:
The third reason we ... read more ...

Team pulls together winning TV commercial in 19 days.
19 days.
That’s how much time the winners of Go Daddy’s TV commercial contest had to pull it all together once they heard about the domain name registrar’s contest.

Scam makes its rounds with a new phishing URL.
[Updated: Go Daddy has successfully shut down the phishing site. But the offender will surely just set up another. So here are a couple points from Go Daddy:

Domain Security: Dynadot Offers Two-Factor Authentication -
Dynadot secures domains with mobile phone security.
In April I wrote a few stories about domain name security tools offered by various registrars. One tool I missed was Dynadot’s SMS security tool.
It works like this:
Account holder receives a 6-digit code (sent via SMS) on his cellphone and then enters the code in his Dynadot account before he can do the following:
– Get a domain’s auth code
– Unlock his domains
– Change his account information
All 6-digit ... read more ...

eNom Announces .Com Price Increases -
Here come the price increase notices.
It’s that time of year again, when domain name registrars send out notices to their customers about .com price increases. We actually got a reprieve last year as VeriSign didn’t increase prices. But they’re back this year, to the extent allowed: 7% for .com and 10% for .net at the wholesale level.
eNom sent a notice to its customers today with .com increases of 55 cents across the board effective July 1:

Go Daddy User Generated Ads Hit a Mark -
Commercials show what Go Daddy actually does. That’s refreshing.
Last month I lamented that most of the submissions to Go Daddy’s commercial contest followed the same-old GoDaddy script. Now that the ten finalists have been selected, I’ve changed my mind.
Sure, most of the finalist commercials use some sort of sex appeal, but the majority of the message is on how Go Daddy can help you get online. The visuals actually make you pay attention to the idea of ... read more ...

Where to Get Best Prices for .Co Sunrise and Landrush Domain Names -
Here’s a guide to getting .co at the lowest price.
I have a feeling .co is going to be hot. It will have one of the best country code “relaunches” we’ve ever seen. .CO Internet has undertaken one of the most impressive “new TLD” pre-marketing campaigns that I can think of, and the buzz is mounting. I’ve had several non-domainer friends email me inquiring about the domain.
