1st Day New gTLD Totals .Fashion 2,182; .Garden 388: Science Passes .XXX & .Pro - Two new gTLD’s were released this week by Minds + Machines
After domain name registrations made in Sunrise by Trademark Holders .Fashion has 2,182 registrations.
.Garden on the other hand only grew to 388 domain registrations.

Rightside Looking To Cash in With .News - Jacob Demmitt wrote a post on the Upstart section of BizJournals.com. The article led with the launch of the .news extension and how Rightside plans to cash in. Taryn Naidu the CEO of Rightside is interviewed and gives some commentary. In the article which I quoted below, Naidu says we are seeing five and six figure sales. I would imagine he is talking about the Coffee.club and Wine.Club sales, I have not heard of a Rightside string selling for six figures.

Sex Domains Big Business In Australia - Iconic.Sydney published an article about Sex and Domains, there is a combo, they go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. Apparently sex related names are becoming a popular choice with the new Aussie based gtlds.

Why .Com Probably Won't Get NetFlixed By The New Gtlds - Alex Kehr wrote an article on his personal blog, titled “Why .COM will probably get Netflixed by New TLDs”
The article is about the relationship of .com and new gtlds being analogous to Blockbuster and NetFlix. I think he is misguided in his interpretation. The other thing missing from the article is that Alex works for Name.com who is owned by Rightside. It helps the reader know where you are coming from and where your particular bias may lie.

ICANN Really .Sucks By Saying They Don't Regulate Content: Anyone Remember .XXX? - After collecting over 1/3 of a billion dollars in application fees, ICANN attempted to pass off the whole .Sucks issue to law enforcement this week, asking them for an opinion, which is very unlikely to come, of whether the .sucks roll-out violates US or Canadian federal law.
ICANN is quoted as saying it was “concerned about the contentions of illicit actions” by Vox Populi but that it lacks the expertise or jurisdiction to evaluate them”.

Study of 10K People: 49% of Consumers Are Uncomfortable With Vising A Site Using A New gTLD - Global information assurance firm, NCC Group released the results of The New Internet Study, today of 10,000 people.
NCC Group questioned 10,000 consumers across the US and UK regarding their attitudes to these new gTLDs.
49% of respondents said they felt uncomfortable visiting a web site using a new gTLD domain.
42% of web users reported feeling less secure online since their introduction while 35% feel just as secure.
