Domain hunt progressing, though still not prepared for new tip turn domain names -
Registrars are slowly improving their search results to show new top level domain name options, but the experience is far from ideal.
Earlier this month I wrote about how domain name search at major registrars wasn’t ready for new top level domain names.
I admitted it was early, as Donuts’ domain names had just come on to the market. It represented the first batch of English-language domains to become available.
Now a few weeks later and over 100,000 new TLD registrations ... read more ...

Registrars are preparing domain search for new top level domain names.
Sometime this year a key element of the domain search box at GoDaddy.com will disappear: the drop down box containing top level domains such as .com.
It may seem like a subtle change, but it’s indicative of a big shift coming in domain search and discovery necessitated by the launch of hundreds of new top level domains.
Domain registrars must figure out how to present the most relevant domain ... read more ...

Did Parava Bilk Customers from Renewal Fees? -
Parava alleged to have kept renewal fees instead of paying them to VeriSign.
What’s a warning sign that your domain name registrar is about to leave you in a lurch? You pay it to renew your domain many years in advance, but it only renews it for one year at a time. Apparently a lot of Parava customers have experienced that.
This week Tucows (Hover.com) took over the domain names that were at Parava, which was de-accredited by ICANN. It didn’t take long for ... read more ...
